I wonder of the QF email is true. I can't believe I am in the top 5% of fliers and top 10% of earners, though did manage to renew WP (according to QF).
According to my QF summary email, 120,340km on QF is in the top 1% of fliers, and 1.9M points is in the top 1% of earners.

Number of flights: 52 (41 domestic (all on VA) and 9 international plus 2 internal NZ) (All whY)
Distance Travelled: No idea, don't keep track, I assume there's an app
New countries: Slovenia and Croatia (total 48 visited now, thought it would be more)
New airports: MXP, ZRH, LJU
New airlines: Swiss, Emirates
New aircraft: Dunno
Shortest flight: ZRH-LJU 471 km (actually I forgot AKL-NPL 228km, done it so many times it slipped my mind)
Longest flight: SIN-MXP 10 313 km
Dislike: Christchurch security nicked my airbuds.
Like: Slovenia and revisiting Switzerland after 30 odd years
Best Flight(s): not great, not terrible.

Looks like I need to get some sort of flight tracker going. For my first ten years of flying I reckon I could recite every flight I did but when I started doing a lot of domestic flights with my job that went out the window. I often wonder how many flights I've even done. Can't even put a finger on it.

With 97,000 points earned, they say I am in the top 10%.
With some of the other examples I've seen since that email came out today, I'd suggest the bulk of QFF members don't seem to earn that many points in a given year. As a data point, both ~500,000 points and ~3,000,000 points earnt for the year are apparently in the Top 1%.

And with 16 flights for 32,000 km they say I am in the top 10% of flyers too.
Seems that this % is based purely on kms travelled rather than flights taken (or any other metric).

I've ended this year on 94 flights, which is the same number as last year but I flew considerably further this year. I also feel like I'm ending this year a lot more tired from all the travel - but perhaps that's an accumulation of several years in a row of rather intense travel.

This was also the year I passed 100 countries visited.

Some highlights for me for this year:
  • New airports: NAN, RUH, JED, RVN, BJL, DSS, RAI, OTP, CLJ, ABZ, SPU, DBV, GYD, DYU, WVB, HLE, BLZ, DAR, NBO, OUL
  • New airlines: Fiji Airways, Saudia, TUI fly Belgium, Air Senegal, ASKY Airlines, TAROM, Azerbaijan Airlines, Airlink, Malawi Airlines, Kenya Airways
  • New aircraft types: A350-1000, A321XLR
  • Shortest flight: BJL-DSS
  • Longest flight: YVR-SYD
  • Best flight: SYD-JNB in QF F, a bucket list flight that was the start of my trip to a bucket list destination (St Helena)
  • Worst flight: CBR-SYD on a Dash 8 - this is something I've flown many times and usually enjoy, but on one particular stormy evening in September, the flight was so rough that I got off feeling physically sick, sweaty and shaking.
  • Like: The Qatar Airways Al Safwa lounge in Doha - stunning, and it's great that you can get in with a regional QR F ticket. And as a close second, Graeme in the WLG Qantas lounge!
  • Dislike: Airlines that make it near-impossible to claim the compensation you're owed after a major disruption (*cough* Iberia). And as a close second place, corrupt airport officials in a certain part of the world.

I was quite surprised to be in the top 1% of both flyers and Qantas Points earners! Though not sure how much I believe them?

94 flights
84k KMs
410k points earned
506k points used

My weekly trips to Canberra really paying off :)

Only 3 x QF metal domestic flights, but up in top 10% of points earners from “other sources” - so they have included points earned from non-QF flights, status credits from non-QF flights plus points from credit cards health etc.
*no cc churn this year either

Certainly a big drop from my heydays of 5-10 sectors a week way back when

If it's your visit to the UK shouldn't you have a new airport there?

Or if @rbjhan took the train there from continental Europe ;)

OK I'm being pedantic but it says she landed at LHR

;) :p
