XFB breaks again literally

I dont think secondhand aircraft will be on the menu in future! XFB is very quicky becoming the new VH-TAA (Try Another Airline) VH-TAA Airbus A300

Urgh, XFB sounds like it really is starting to become a PITA for Virgin. I wonder what EK have to say about this all...

Ummm.... caveat emptor?

Nah, seriously...... :-|

It might be a pain, but DJ have enough 332s to hold all current services, don't they? Just that some golden triangle services just might miss out, that's all....

Is that the service that was today going ADL - MEL - HBA - CBR - OOL and beyond.

I had a friend on it and the delays just kept getting longer and longer and so did the reason.

XFB is the rego of one of two A330s DJ operate.

XFB is a partial reference to the registration (VH-XFB) of one of the Virgin Australia A330's. It was used by Emirates for about 10 years (starting in 2000) before Virgin Australia leased it. Seems to have more than its fair share of mechanical issues...

Probably something like "Phew, glad its gone from our fleet ... what a PITA aircraft to keep in the air."

Thanks........ I knew that? (not) ;)

There's posts somewhat regarding these two aircraft quoting/citing DJ staff:

XFA: It's Flamin' Awesome

XFB: It's Flamin' Broke

Looks like "Situation Normal ...".

3 out of my last 4 flights on XFB Including yesterdays have had tech delays of at least 40 mins.

Jumping on an EK 330 in 3 weeks

I'll let VA know if they picked a dud ;)

Will Virgin be replacing the current 2 A330's (especially XFBroken) with the 2 brand new factory fresh A330's? The other one is again leased from Emirates but I don't think it is as old...

Jack.

Not that I'm aware of. Certainly not in the near future.

The plan was according to this article when the two brand new A330-200s arrive from Airbus in the coming months, the current two 330s leased from EK will be taken out of service and refitted with the new hard product. From my understanding, that is all that is known at this stage.

Let's leave thinking of a solution to the VH-XFB issue to Virgin

They're actually *continuing* to buy ex-Emirates A330s. The plan is to have a fleet of 6 before too long, 4 will be ex-Emirates, 2 will be brand new. So no chance of retiring XFB. Yet.
