Myself and Select others were asked if we would like something brought from the J cabin. I elected a Shiraz and others wines and champers.Nice touch Qantas, I have heard of it previoulsy but not consistently.CSM Dorothy Carmichael was the first to recognize WP and higher down the back years ago, domestically. Impressed, I wrote to Qantas then and publicizing it again now.Winning hearts is about a good strong consistent message. Well done for the start of the journey!

I did QF; SYD-SIN-LHR about 3 weeks ago in Y.
Got the F champagne while in Y...wow, thank you QF FA's....;)

Fantastic lesson learned while in Y, would l pay $300+ for a bottle of Taittinger, no way;) !!!.

The $90 Moet I had years ago was just the same...LOL

The greeting and offer of 'anything else' has occurred for me once in 2 years - I fly mainly transcon plus a couple of O/S jaunts.

I thought "Wow"- so fed back to QF. Prompt response received- of course little more than a blink since :)

I wonder if there is a memo somewhere to remind CSM to do this. On my last 4 trips over the past month (2 international, 2 domestic) I have had a personal greeting and in-flight offer for access to higher class aperitifs. Nice touch although the SIN-MEL flight was interesting as 50% of the PE cabin got the greeting :p

Agree, when it is done properly (discretely) it is appreciated. Unwritten benefit.

good to hear, it's about time QF started doing this again. AirNZ are excellent at it.

I'm not so sure...

I flew NZ last week after being stranded in NZ due to the ash cloud. I bought the highest possible ticket on the A320 flight - a Works Deluxe seat. I was, I have to admit, a bit peeved when newspapers and express arrival cards were offered to NZ elites (who were not in Works Deluxe seats) and not to me. Gee, not even a newspaper! And I could not have bought a more expensive fare.

It's nice to be treated well as an elite. But also, for goodness sakes, inculde your top paying passengers on the flight!

Unbelievable!- that is shocking!

I would be complaining to Air NZ big time - even ask for some level of compensation or recognisance. *As a HVC¹ (who may have considered purchasing Works Deluxe in the future), such events would deter you from doing so, etc., etc.

If nothing else, please post this on the FT AirNZ forum (AirNZ people monitor that forum full time).

¹ HVC: High Value Customer

On my Mel-sin return last week, on the flight over nothing but on the flight back the CSM asked if I wanted anything which I thought was good customer service, she later came back and gave me an express immigration card, so I was happy

I got my first greeting in a long time the other day SIN-MEL on the A380. I was in 80K and fell asleep waiting for take off.

The CSM came down later and welcomed me aboard and mentioned how she had been around earlier but I was asleep. I thanked her for the welcome and she also mentioned something along the lines that there is not much she can do as the flight is full.

I did not ask for anything, nor did I expect anything, but was puzzled with her last comment. What was she going to offer if the flight was not full? An op-up?

I guess a cynic might say she was able to give that impression because the flight was full anyway, but hey, a nice gesture to greet you anyway. And you'll never know what she may have done with a few spare seats in a premium cabin! ;)

PER-SIN a few months ago, CSD stopped by and asked if there was anything he could do. The glass of white from Business was very nice. QF CSDs seem to have been stopping by more frequently of late.

Happy wandering

QF 94 CSM - a Second Personal greeting 2hrs into flight and lengthy discussion after a 3+hr delay ex LAX plus delay of 2+hrs on QF108 connection ex JFK.
Was quite suprised by this CSM (I.S.) but can not complain by the extra effort and offerings (I suspect as a WP) but did make effort to involve my neighbour as well... :) Well done! :p

If it hasn't been offered prior I'll normally wait till just before descent to ask for an express inwards card. Most times the FA's/CSM knee jerk reaction is to appologise and say they don't "think" they have any on board. After about 2 - 5 minutes one of them will walk back with a pile of them and offer them around to the WP's in Y.

Haven't once when I has a WP. But recently I noticed WPs in economy getting the welcome and j headsets and express cards.

Also noticed Dom priority boarding. Definite lifting of QFs game

I thought I was onto a good thing as the first QF flight (QF12) I had after hitting Platinum I had the greeting - I was seated in PE, and the CSM even said "Thanks Mr Ewing" as I disembarked. On an A380 that's quite commendable.

My next few overseas flights were in J and nothing noticeably special about them.

Probably the best recent example was a trans-tasman AKL-SYD back in April when seated in Y exit row. I received the greeting along with "is there anything I can do for you?", express card and was also greeted by name during the meal service and again when disembarking. I was the only one this happened to at least in my immediate vicinity and I got a few funny looks from other pax but oh well :)

In any case, it's good to see reports of this happening more.

It has always been my opinion that this treatment costs little and requires only marginally extra effort from the FAs (I say this with very limited knowledge of what it's like to be an FA).

If this is an enforced/permanent change then QF is definitely winning back some points they lost from me with the last two changes to the FF program.

If they were also able to do this on the shorter domestic sectors I usually fly then I'd be very happy, although I do understand the time and resource constraints here.

I had one wonderful CSM who bought me wine and cheese from Y+ when I was seated in Y. It was about three hours into HKG-LHR. She stopped and chatted for a couple of minutes and advised me that the FA's in Y+ had been instructed to "look after" me. I never saw a Y+ FA from that moment on!!!!

I have had wine from F served by the CSM when in Y on a 380. Only once in the last year have I not received an express card when returning to Australia in Y or Y+.

Consistency, as mentioned in many other threads, seems to be the problem. If I am flying Y or Y+ I don't expect anything other than what I paid for, but it is very nice to feel appreciated. :)

I understand your comment but that's sort of like expecting a no status pax on the fully flexible ticket on QF to be treated like a WP (not that wp's are treated that well.)

I do understand that the deluxe works is a special ticket but it's not the same as Gold Elite. They don't even give their gold members a newspaper etc...
