WP treated with respect in Y class on QF108 saturday 18th June JFK-LAX

I am a wp and sometimes I get a better level of service and other times the same as everyone else. I always fly economy because it's my business that pays for flights...

There seems to be quite a nice consistency in terms of greetings/chit-chatting from QF CSMs on my most recent international flights:

  • SYD-SIN: offer of a J amenity kit and drinks. The guy sitting 2 seats away asked why I received such special treatment, and wonder if I was an athlete (!)
  • SIN-FRA: offer of a pair of PJs
  • FRA-SIN: a pleasant conversation. The CSM even politely asked if it’s ok to have a pax in a Y seat move to the (vacant) PE seat next to me.
  • SIN-SYD: same CSM from QF6 above (different day), who said it's a busy flight for him as there’re 36 WPs (!) on board. Got 2 Express cards from 2 different guys.

This doesn't only happen in Y.

I just did QF31 to London in First as an SG, and then the QF32 back in First as a WP. I was trying to work out why the cabin crew were so much more attentive (or even obsequious) on the 32. Now it makes sense...

not necessarily, the service should be consistent in F, regardless of Status.

I would have thought so too, but it was noticeably different. I guess it may have just been a coincidence with different crews?

SIN-BNE a few weeks ago, WPs got photocopied newspapers after takeoff with tiny font that almost sent me blind. Nice touch though. Not so nice the guy behind who insisted on kicking the seat back regularly. Cross because he didn't get one?

It could be worse...

POM-HKG on PX last week. 3 of us booked, two executive club gold, one not a member. DH8-100 subbed for a Q400. The two exec club members get bumped (sorry, come back tomorrow at OMG 4.30 am) the non member gets on. Wondering if I would be better off resigning from exec club!

Mind you I've never seen an airline which bumps people with such gay abandon as PX.

Cheers skip

They are actually digital editions of the newspapers; emailed/downloaded from Oz then printed and stapled for your convenience. (We received such for "The Australian" ex SIN earlier this month.)

It certainly sounds like an effort is being made to provide simple inexpensive touches that WPs can appreciate.

/OT/
what's the flight time POM-HKG in a DH8-100?

I had to red the post twice to confirm thats what I was reading! Methinks CNS = HKG

Coming back to Oz next week. Will see if l get 'treated' any better for attaining WP and will be sitting in Y. Honestly, l think not as l am a 'young WP'....LOL.

(I did get champagne from F on my outbound flight, but that's because everyone was sleeping and l was talking to the FA's in the galley for about 3 hours. I also asked several FA's about QF WP and other levels, they don't have a clue, or don't care.)

Actually my experience has been same or worse over the last 6-8 months... Previously I would get the occasional amenities offer from J or wine or something.. Now onlt thing that I get is a personal greeting on boarding... that's it..

In fact on three most recent trips (2 X NRT SYD and 1 X SIN SYD).. no recognition at all. Was seated in Y+ for all 3 flights.. Had to ask for Express card.. In fact once NRT SYD when I asked for Exp Card, was told that it is for J PAX onlys.. After DYKWIM... very reluctant FA gave me a card after 30 minutes...

Maybe it's just me!!!

+1

In the service dept, other than the tiny font newspaper, my small sample of experience suggests I have gone backwards since being promoted from SG to WP.

I think the problem is there are too many of us. It's not like AirNZ where they have very few GE's...

hmm in saying that I guess CX would have more top tier than QF and do a good job...

Whilst I was bronze I had "Hello Miss Servlet" at the same frequency as I do now as a platinum.

Naturally I have concluded that if the staff were personally greeting people during boarding they were greeting everyone, regardless of status. As long as they could pronounce their name.

In my experience they can't be bothered doing it most of the time though.

Yes saw those, great idea and addition. A real enhancement!Need to buy OPSM shares though..........
