Even if they never played basketball, they will still wear the basketball cap where ever they go.

Basketball is played indoors, so isn't it appropriate to wear a basketball cap inside?

One thing I noticed when I was posted to the US in 1978, was that most males wore baseball hats, and keep them on when eating a meal in either their home or in restaurants. Having come from being used to see men in Australia always remove their hats when going indoors, it was the start of the learning process about the US customs. It would appear the these times are gone forever. like many other customs and mannerisms.

My husband had significant brain surgery lovely long incisions and such like , there was also a large indentation which was very unpleasant post surgery . He wore his hat in a coffee shop. A man older than him had a go at him. Husband (the placid and calm man out ) took off his akubra and asked the man how he was , because the man absolutely went white and was horrified. He and his wife left the coffee shop. Husband then put his hat back on. It wasn't fine dining, or an rsl just a basic coffee shop in a shopping centre .

It is funny in an aussie kind of way.
A little bit similar. I was working out of Darwin and through a work colleague, Karel, got to know this really interesting woman named Patricia. When my colleague was on leave we'd go out: she was great company. Eventually I transferred to another project. Years later I bumped into Patricia and Karel out on the town in Brisvegas. It was a few years later I was reading the broad sheet SMH and there on page 5 was a 2/3 page story about a woman named Patricia who was on trial for attempted murder of a fella named John. Patricia was going out with this fella named John and he became unwell. On admission to hospital he was found to have traces of poison in his system. A detective tried to tell John that Patricia was trying to kill him. He wouldn't have any of it.

Then the story went on how she and Jon were out on a Moreton Bay one night on a 50' boat once owned by her previous partner Karel. Police attended the vessel when I mayday was broadcast whereupon (lovely old term) they found Patricia unconscious on the deck of the vessel and John down below with a portion of his head blown away by a close quarter shot from a rifle. John recovered and the same detective suggested to Patricia had set the whole scene up in a ruse to get rid of him. Patricia was found guilty and is serving time in Bogo Rd

A couple of years later I was staying in a caravan park at Bonny Hills NSW. I was out for a surf and when I returned MrsP said "I bumped into your mate John" "Who?!" "John with the big hole in his head" "How did you know it was him?" ... derr "The big hole and I asked the park manager. She confirmed he was living in the park but did not want anyone knowing." I can tell this now because he is not living in the park anymore. Anyway, talk about a long run of coincidences and what a small place Australia is.

So that story is to explain I also know someone with a huge indentation in his head, and I expect he might wear a hat or perhaps he's had it fixed. The story is available on one of those TV shows "Australia's most wanted or somesuch. Oh, and the police say Karel was probably murdered and his body disposed of. That is a further story but can be searched.

100%. I had surgery (twice) on my head and it certainly wasn't a pretty sight with staples in it. I wore a hat indoors and out, including work, for quite some time. To hell with what anyone thought. You never know someone's circumstances. That said, I don't unnecessarily wear a hat at the dinner table or indoors generally. That's how I was brought up.

You never know someone's circumstances. That said, I don't unnecessarily wear a hat at the dinner table or indoors generally. That's how I was brought up.

I do have to say my husband was brought up with no hats inside , but this was when he could finally safely leave home and go out and do something just regular . Mind you he did have a quiet chuckle over the other guy's horrified expression lol
