Worse than feet on bulkheads

I guess it depends on where said feet have trodden when out of their shoes.

I wonder if any of the bare feet in the toilets were also the bare feet on the tray tables, or the arm rests or for heavens sake.......the head rests :evil:.

Forgetting the visual grossness of bare feet in odd positions for one moment, I'm not sure which would be worse, someone putting the feet on a tray table (as pictured in one of the links), or given the hygiene practices of some, putting their hands on a tray table. Most people don't use their feet to wipe themselves with toilet paper after a "number 2" visit to the toilet, but do with their hands. And studies have shown people don't always wash their hands after visiting the toilet. So I guess it depends on where said feet have trodden when out of their shoes.

At risk of getting myself banned for life from AFF I put my bare feet on bulkheads. However, I never walk around without shoes, my feet are clean, tidy and well groomed and don't smell. So as I don't touch anything but the inside of my shoes with them, or use them to use toilet paper (now there's an interesting visual), i think they are fine to put on a surface that isn't going to be touched by any food, hands etc. I wouldn't put them on a table or armrest though!

Edited to add: I even do a strange dance in the toilets when changing into the pyjamas when flying long haul, to make sure my feet don't touch gross stuff. It's actually a bit of a thing of mine to not put my feet anywhere that might be dirty.

So you were never taught manners as a child? It is more than just the cleanliness of it, it's whether you choose to show respect to others. Given a comfortable temperature, I personally would prefer to discard my clothing rather than be burdened with them, but it's not socially accepted and wouldn't for a minute consider imposing that on others.

Life is not all about being self-centred.

And this is why I always steal the slippers from our hotels and make hubby wear them on the plane when he takes his shoes off (long haul, don't smell).

Yes you should always avail yourself of the freebie scuffs in hotels - and always pack a pair in your carry-on - even in SQ F scuffs are not given out before takeoff - I always am changed within 5 mins of seated on plane with scuffs on thanks to previous flts or last hotel.

What's so obscene about a healthy clean non-odorous well maintained foot?
Would a skimpy sandal or thong make it ok?
While I wouldn't necessarily encourage it, in the relative privacy of an airline seat on a long flight, it's not like flashing wobbly bits.

I think most people miss the point. If I am seated near you and staring ahead I should not be able to see your feet at eye level. It's wrong. It's disrespectful. It's rude.

According to Madonna it does, but she stopped being relevant in the late 90s.

BTW, I also wear disposable spa thongs/flip flops in the lounge showers. Ive become a germaphobe in my old age.

Im all for kids getting dirty/eating certain foods earlier than later and I don't believe in using antiseptic on mass like the mums seem to do these days but Im anti standing in other peoples pee and having their dirty feet near where I eat or at eye level.
