Worrying scenes from inside as Flight attendants try to evacuate plane

Passengers with insulin and other meds need access to retrieve them in these situations.

Why? Replacement medication can be secured if your carry-on cant be retrieved after evacuation.

I dont think itis acceptable for you to delay evacuation fumbling to get your carry-on down meaning someone else may not make it off alive.

As I sat in my seat last night watching boarding (and then de-boarding) seemingly drag on and on because of people needing to stow bags in the overhead bins..

There seems to be this weird thing where people are giving way to the rows in front of them when de-boarding, for people who don't have their s$%t together.

If a passenger in front doesn't have their carry on ready, then keep on walking through. Similarly if you're that passenger, wait until a suitable gap presents itself before blocking the aisle

Ie. remove the overhead bins. The only bags being one that go at your own feet.. And it struck me that this would probably also improve times to get everyone on/off the plane under normal circumstances also!

You are describing the European LCC approach and whilst they still do have overhead lockers, they charge handsomely for people to bring anything bigger than a smallish backpack on board.

This helps with revenue obviously but also lends itself to people economising on luggage and/or checking it in for similar price. Net result more streamlined boarding and disembarkation as less mucking around with kitchen sinks in the overhead lockers., which helps with turnarounds and one also assumes would help in evacuations.

I think this is really serious issue, and one day its absolutely going to cause 10's if not 100's of deaths guaranteed ......it's only a matter of time

In an ideal world the airline industry would collectively come together to find a cohesive approach to spreading the message so it resonates with the travelling public and becomes more widely understood.

Realistically though , how willing is any airline to go beyond the basics when it comes to discussing and bringing attention to something as grim as escaping a burning aircraft

Same logic applies to time: save 15–20 mins of boarding stress, and you can spend that relaxing instead — or even sneak in a few spins at vegastarscasino-au before takeoff.
Passengers often ignore the briefing, thinking it's not about them - and then panic, delays, suitcases in hand...

That’s the thing… when the aircraft is burning, pax get off pretty quick. When there no perception of danger, pax aren’t as quick.

True. Unless smoke is licking their heels, many will still pause to grab their backpack, duty free or phone — as if it’s just a delayed deboarding, not a life-or-death escape.
