What a load of garbage. The biggest joke is Jetstar at 30. I would fly a lot of the airlines ranked lower than that over Jetstar even if they were double the price.

I've been quite satisfied with all of my longhaul JQ flights though. Either way, I would agree with the top group, probably not in that exact order, but almost all of the airlines up there deserve to be ranked highly.

Skytrax ratings?

I know not to take the ratings seriously when I see Asiana, Singapore and Cathay Pacific as 2, 3 and 4 respectively on the list.

Even a limping Qantas is still miles ahead. But that is just my opinion just like this list is the opinion of total strangers who have no influence in my travel experience.

I still don't know what these ratings are trying to achieve.

Qantas miles ahead of SQ? You must be one of very few people who think that.

Depends where in the aircraft one travels.

Inn economy I'd much rather be a *O sapphire/emerald travelling QF than a *G travelling SQ.

Likewise if there are delays/cancellations where multiple flights are available. QF moves pax around a lot more freely (e.g. I was put on QF6 when QF10 was severely delayed, and my end destination was SYD anyway). No chance of that happening on SQ (you know what I mean if you've ever dealt with SQ on the ground).

I have never been a *Gold and travelled in SQ in economy although that may change next February.

But I have travelled in QF economy as a Platinum and I think it is a decent cheap(ish) alternative. Lounge access before a flight, reasonably comfortable seats in 747 bulkhead or row 80 on A380, generous QFF points earning on the cheapest possible Qantas airfares and for a simple SYD-SIN return I would have enough for a Oneworld RTW award after 9 returns which for me is just over 2 years.

So yes the ratings mean absolutely nothing to me.

No lateral thinking in SQ I'm afraid. Agree.

How does Garuda beat qantas!!!
First you fly Qantas. Then you fly Garuda.
Then you give feedback on your overall experience.

Garuda offers a better product for now, but in a few years Qantas might improve. Signs aren't good for Qantas but let's hope with a leadership change and a re-launch that Qantas might improve somewhat.

Most of the people here who bash Garuda won't have flown them in business or even economy in the last year or so, they won't realise what an excellent airline they have become. Yes they have had a checkered history but as it stands right now the onboard service with Garuda international is excellent and beats Qantas in many ways.

Did Garuda, Y, SYD-DPS (Bali), a number of years ago.
FA's were handing out pre-departure drinks and newspapers, like most airlines do in J, but in Y.
Even my recent very short hop, FRA-BUD, LH J, no pre-departure drinks.
