Since most of us here are likely collecting Qantas points, it's worth mentioning that Qantas Marketplace has upped the number of points you can earn on gift cards from 3x points to anywhere from 4x to 10x points. For example:

I've found it varies - there have been times where I've had cards in a few minutes, other times it has taken 12-24 hours. Allow the full window to be on the safe side.

I've found that regional stores can often be good in terms of having good stocks of gift cards for stores that don't exist in the local area.

Plenty of stock of $100 Westfield and $200 IKEA gift cards in Goulburn NSW last night, although none of the Cafe Choice gift cards.

I did manage to find plenty of the Cafe Choice gift cards in stock at Macarthur Square in Campbelltown NSW this afternoon. I've only dropped in to 3 or 4 stores that I've otherwise been nearby, but this was the only location I've been to which had any at all of these.

One thing to note is the 0.4% fee for Visa cards in ATO, compared to 0.2% for Mastercard

Bought 4x100 Giftcards.
Only got 4000 bonus points instead of 8000
Was aware of this at checkout but proceeded anyway.
checkout person couldn't do anything.
Rang the rewards centre, and the extra points posted within a few hours.

Do the Visa vanilla gift cards work at ATO, similarly to the Mastercard ones?

I successfully used a Vanilla Visa to pay the ATO yesterday. However, it seems that they no longer work with DEFT, PayPal or Sniip per reports on OzBargain so they're not quite as useful as the Vanilla Mastercards.

For future reference TCN's exchange system didn't seem to allow me to swap a $40 party card for a $40 JBHifi card. This could be problematic for anyone wanting to use them online.
