Will you still earn/retain Velocity status beyond 2025?

Virgin have bungled this big time.

Mr Stanmps to the extent VA want to reduce the lounge numbers due to the riff raff currently in there, and then allowing more through via credit cards yes, they possibly have an inconsistent strategy.

Only question is in couple years time with reduced status holders what they'll do to increase loyal status holders. Then again no less than 5 DSC offers already in 2026 says something of desperation.

I’d argue they don’t need loyalty at all… except for their FF program and selling VA points to partners.

Actual BIS flying is achieved through fares, and fares alone.

Lounge entry etc I think will be through credit cards etc. Why give it for free with status when they can get paid entry, or indirectly paid through selling points to banks etc?

Just scraped in to retain Platinum this year. Almost certainly won't make it for next year but not worried. By then I should have enough SCs f or Forever Gold.

[serfty]

I believe a majority of long term statused members have a COVID aligned review date of 1 April. Some would have soft landed a level earlier this year. A lot more will do so on that date next year. WP to SG, SG to PS.

Other than those who are forever Gold, after April 2028 there will be very few members left having lounge access via status based on the old regime.

then you totally overshot the runway Serfty and made it to Plats Plus!

That post is rather dated (nearly 2 years old), the opportunity arose with VA Business to MEL-BNE-CNS-HND to commence a DONE4. 280 (Old) SC thank you. I then credited QR segements on said DONE4 to Velocity for another 320 (old) SC.

Plats+ was within reach!

I'm still on the slide though; my Velocity status based lounge access will end in 2029, barring another 2K (new) SC on VA. (Anyone got a spare $24K?)

I’ve never really understood the Platinum Plus deal when it still doesn’t get you into the Beyond Lounge. You can, however, check in five bags at 32 kg each. That is 160 kg of luggage! You as our resident HCO expert will appreociate that benefit.

I was talking to a Virgin Australia executive who said the number of people achieving Platinum Plus had exceeded their expectations. That has apparently created other challenges for the loyalty program, particularly on aircraft with only eight Business Class seats.
