Will QF check bags in for a 13 hour Dom>Dom 'connection'?

I'm on the redeye DRW-SYD dep 0045 arr 0645 and will then go meetings in SYD during the day before then taking SYD-ADL departing at 2010.

The flights were booked as different one way bookings through the QF website.

I know it sounds silly, but I'm taking a very large (but empty) checkin bag (think Barossa wine) and I was wondering whether it will be likely that QF will check it through to ADL with the 13 hour connection in Sydney? It would be nice to not have to lug it into the city and then back out again. If the answer is a 'you must be kidding' then I will make different transport arrangements to a 'yes' or a 'maybe'.

Thanks,
TripleB

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

When you checkin in DRW make sure you tell the CSA that you have a connecting flight to ADL later that day so they can link both flights and check the bag through DRW/xSYD/ADL.

I don't see there being an issue as it's the same calendar day so it shouldn't be any different to doing eg BNE/SYD early am then SYD/ADL in the evening.

Thanks for the replies.

For the benefit of anyone pulling this up on a search in the future ... there was no trouble checking in and bags were on the belt in Adelaide.

Thanks for the information TripleB. It is great when an OP lets everyone know what happened. I really appreciate the time you took to find the thread and post again.

Similar question, what about an overnight stopover on the same ticket, eg MEL-BNE, BNE-SIN the following day <24hours.

You'd need to collect your bags at BNE domestic then re lodge them when you check in the next dsy at BNE Intl.

Just a follow up on this old thread - Same deal as last year (on way to cricket) DRW-SYD redeye (00:45 departure) connecting to QF785 SYD-ADL leaving at 8:10pm on different bookings - checking bags (well boxes for Barossa Grenache) through was no problems again.

Although my better half (she's just on the QF785) who picked me up from Sydney at 630am this morning - went inside to check her bag in (to save lugging it to the city and back) and was told that under no circumstances could anyone be checked in more than 6 hours before the flight.
