Which LHR lounge for QF Platinum?

BA T3 F lounge has a wider range of food selection than say the Sydney J lounge, you can also order a few things which they can cook for you, therefore, you will need at least at least one hour if you want them to cook something (from a small selection). I would rate the T3 BA F lounge as a J+ lounge. Certainly do not turn up expecting the SYD F experience.

So, as far as lounge access is concerned, an upgrade to QF F (WP) only gives you access to the Elemis spa treatment - on top of the usual WP entitlements.

Concorde room is still not available in that case ?

Am I correct or missing some other items of interests ?

Further, I recently read a post on FT which claimed that BA F Galleries refused access as the OP did not have his BA (Gold) FF number on his BP despite having a physical BA Gold card.

Would there be trouble if I were to credit to AA on QF2 (J) while producing a WP card ?

Nothing wrong at the NRT Sakura F lounge when I did that two months ago but any comments would be appreciated.

There is no CCR in T3, the Elemis Spa is now closed and QF have a new Spa arrangement for F pax upstairs at the No1 Traveller Spa.
There are varying reports on the success of using Elite access on one carrier whilst crediting to another. Knowing what I do of the breed of Dragon BA places in T3 I would be prepared to negotiate.

If you are ever going to have a problem with a boarding pass with AA number not emerald but carry a QF emerald card, then BA lounges are the place. My advice is that I would email BA management beforehand and get something in writing.

Personal view is that it is a couple of notches below QF F lounge.

Pleasant, courteous greetings from kimono clad staffs.

Seating is comfortable, not crowded at all. Quiet, peaceful.

Windows overlooking runways are not as expansive as SYD F lounge.

No a la carte menu when I was there, only a buffet menu with 2-3 soups, salads, 2-3 hot dishes (incl. the beef curry).

One attendant staffing the bar but I did not drink.

Loo was super clean with cotton towels for hand drying.

A class above QF INT J lounge, I'd say but the lack of the a la carte menu and the more expansive windows of the QF F lounge put it in front of the Sakura F.



Subdued, soothing color tone



What is available from the bar - with an attendant.



Simple, adequate



Chicken dish



This beef curry kept me nourished and spared QF the need to feed me on the plane

Well, how about keeping QFF (WP) on the way in and ask them to switch to AA (Plat) on the way out.

Notwithstanding QF somehow rebranding the T3 BA lounge before June, I have a question related to the OP that perhaps goes a bit deeper.

First, the characters:

Myself, P1 (OWE)
Mum, CX Silver (OWR)
Sister, QP (no OW status)

Next, the flights:

Myself, QF2
Mum, CX254
Sister, AA107

I chose my sisters flights on AA metal specifically because from my reading, she wouldn't get lounge access anymore on BA metal as a QP member. So, from my reading (am I wrong :shock she can use the AA lounge. My mum, as a CX Silver flying on CX can use the CX lounge. I can use a few lounges I believe, but am curious on the best route to take, as we're all leaving on the same day, my sister first at 5, before myself at 9:30 and mum at 10:30. Again, from my reading my guest only needs to be travelling on OneWorld, not on the same flight, so could I guest my mother to the AA lounge so we're all together, before my sister departs, and then head to another, better lounge? Should I be guesting my sister out of the AA lounge to the CX one instead?

It's all very confusing right now, but I figure we all have lounge access in our own rights, just separated.

In terms of catching an int flight, 30 minutes is IMHO too close for comfort with or without lounge access
To answer your question, the BA Lounge is more than adequate. The drinks selection good, food on a par with a domestic QP these days. Plenty of seating and a Champagne bar. The CX lounge is a stark, cold place with good noodles, awful Champagne. Wouldn't bother with the AA Flagship according to reports.

Allow 30-60 minutes for the 'Fast Track' immigration (yes, it is that bad, and often slower than regular immigration), then a 5-10 minute walk through the masses to the lounge. You can also bet on a 15-20 minute walk to the gate as well (I always seem to end up on the farthest stand).

3 hours prior to departure is the latest I would want to be at LHR to commence check-in and formalities personally.

Thanks Fiona. I'll get in touch with QF to see if they can change my flight so I can depart out of LHR on a QF A380 instead of the Emirates 777. That way I can use the BA first lounge.

I don't know what the EK lounge in LGW is like, but not sure it'd be any worse than the BA F lounge. My vivid memories of my last visit were no a la carte (or an a la carte that was the same as the buffet), and dirty upholstery. Wines were good though.

My best/worst was arriving at check in counter at T- 61 minutes (yes cut off is 1 hour).

In such a fluster I left my grey covered iPad on the security tray, which I did not realise until t-20 min at the gate!!!! LHR is only airport I have been asked to do this at.....

wonderful BA attendant went back from the B terminal (you know how far that is) and retrieved it for me
me.

i was 3rd last to board and even ducked into lounge at B terminal for a quick nerve calming drink!!!!

T3 BA Galleries F is really disappointing for an F lounge actually. The BA Burger wasn't bad but the a la carte food items was below what I'd expect of an F lounge, but I guess they must reserve the better items for the F pax only dining area (OWE excluded). Much prefer MEL/SYD QF F or CX HKG Wing F or even Bridge.
