Where do 'Gift Vouchers' live?

When I book a flight the FF number is already there so not already in the right spot?

If you are logged in to your QFF account when you redeem the voucher that will be populated from your profile info. Or else the browser is autofilling it.

Yes, when one buys a Gift Voucher the top part allows you to put in your email, QFF# and phone number for the BUYER. I think this is only useful when there's a promo involving bonus points for GV purchase (remember the old "Christmas" 10 points, then 5points per $ promotions that stopped a few years ago? This is how they managed those).

However when youy purchase the GV you're buying it for *someone* ie the recipientm and the only fields required there(which in turn are used to populate the PNR that is set up) is name and email/contact info(if known). All you really need is a name, and even that can be changed when redeemed.

The buyer info is NOT put into the recipient. I mean if you buy a GV for me you do not want your FF# in there (well maybe you might, but I probably do not :) )

Now when we buy them for ourselves sure, we'd want that, but just because John Smith QFF#12345 is buying the voucher, that does not mean the John Smith named as the recipient is the same person (and remember, GV's can have a name change when redeemed so it's more a placeholder than anything, much like the "fake" flights inserted into the PNR on creation)

As I noted before, with residual credit vouchers, they are created against existing bookings which have all your info etc, so they are different in that respect.

I'm sorry if this is confusing.

Not confusing but when I buy a gift voucher, I am the recipient and, I include all details of the recipient.

Must check later with outstanding gift vouchers.

when one purchases GV's there is NO field to fill in for recipient FF# - that is the point. Thus, even if YOU are the recipient of the voucher that field is not filled in, thus it does not show in your account when until you add it in. Simples.

Quite right there is no recipient FF#. But gift vouchers are not that simple.

I keep the email and copy details into a separate file. Delete when redeemed. Not that complicated. Though I admit I once nearly let one expire.

OP, if you didn't make a note of PNR provided, or didn't keep the email with the GV PNR on your laptop or device, you will have to phone QFF up.
I made a GV purchase about 18 to 24 months ago, thought I had kept the email in my achieves folder, but when it came time to redeem, it wasn't there.
Searched high and low, and couldn't find it.
In the end, I phoned QFF up and used the GV then.
In future, as mentioned above by the others, keep a spreadsheet if you plan to make use of the GV during DSC promotions, or keep the 6 alphanumeric code on your smartphone or paper or diary if you still use them.
If you loose the GV PNR, and don't have the email, and don't want to phone QFF up, there is no way to retrieve the details, even your CC statement won't show the PNR.

I was trying to find details of mine once and rang Qantas and they couldn't find them. Eventually found the emails but still not convinced I found them all so now it's a spreadsheet.
