What's your prediction on the Australian Dollar?

The jobs report wasn't that great and I think we are on another upswing from tomorrow

The market is stacked long AUD and will take any excuse to bid it up. Only central banks have a chance of slowing down momentum with US interest rate hike or further interest rate drop in Australia. Any hint that China is not imploding is causing a rush to the AUD, the price spike in iron ore also helped even though the market is still oversupplied and prices will fall again.

What nothing from calling the big boys mother a cough? Nothing from the military base rising from the sea? What's G20 got to do these days..... To get a rise in the AU?

Well it was .7674 a few minutes ago so JohnK should be pleased. Most times we only pay attention to that country Plant is when it cops a direct hurricane hit or a big earthquake.

Maybe today is the day for JohnK to be pleased. Temporary currency surges should be helping.

GBP has gained 3c against the greenback in the past week - not sure what has caused the rally but won't complain as I'm over there next week.

LOL. I got 26.00 baht on Sunday, 26.10 baht on Monday and 26.20 baht yesterday. Pretty much done with exchange this trip and AUD still going up.

JohnK is never pleased
Not quite. 12 days to go. ;)

Yes, as he was running toward me shouting something... ;)
I would never do that.

Got 26.30 baht yesterday and that's it this trip. I was reminiscing about the days we were getting 32 baht. Really miss those days but they are not coming back in a hurry.

I remember the pre-Brexit days ... at least the GBP has had a v. small rally against the USD ahead of my trip.

Is that your way of guaranteeing it will happen?

Daring fate to prove you wrong?

Spoken like a Market Strategist/Economist - the only difference they just 'update' their forecasts to reflect the reality they did not predict.

That's one of the most accurate statements I've ever read on AFF. Economists can "massage" any data set to come to whatever position suits them - there's never a wrong answer!

LOL. I can only live in hope of a return to the glory days. Knowing my luck it will only ever get worse when I need to exchange.

With the Dow and other US indices down over 2% Friday night we may be about to experience some pretty choppy foreign exchange markets. If Donald Trump gets the nod in November I would expect some markets to get disturbed.
Having North Korea doing their fifth nuclear test has not helped and most of the 25 million folks there are on starvation rations.
