I'm not sure if I've stumbled upon a reasonable value for reward flights from Australia to Singapore or not.

From what I can see, often the single biggest limiting factor with reward flights, is the AU to where ever redemption. Often I find open availability, on flying once out of Australia.

With that in mind, I've looked at alternatives and I found what I consider pretty good value. CNS-SIN on a VA J reward booking on Silk metal (53K +AU$92), which comes in cheaper than SQ (62K +AU$92). For me, the CNS option is perfect and for +1, using a CC travel credit for the BNE-CNS flight will also be hard to beat (coupled with a Hilton night in CNS of course)!

Although I think Silk is yet to transition to their lie flat seats on the 737 Max 8, hopefully they might have a couple flying by August ;) (and hopefully they have pilots who know how to handle a cantankerous plane with a penchant to dive into terra-firma when things go haywire), but we have a daytime flight anyway and unlikely to make use of lie flat and I have read even the old J seats have a 12" recline and stacks of legroom to make way for the lie flat when they arrive.

So what is the best value AU to SIN redemption's (Y, PE, J or F)? Have I found it, or am I delusional?

I wouldn't consider that many hours in a 737 to be good value.

My preference would be BNE-SIN on EK 777 with departure after midnight allowing plenty of time for connections to the rest of SE Asia. Economy is only 28,000 points and heading to BKK doesn't increase the points cost. If you wanted business this would be 60,000 points.
