Yes, but if the winds are against you then the trailer is the first to be jettisoned at 35,000 feet.

But this is part of the reason that I can predict we will see ever increasing seating densities on the A380 over time, at least approaching the Airbus suggested 3-class config of 555 seats.

That's certainly the way it developed with the 747. They were quite roomy when I flew them in 1970 - I guess the A/C must have shrunk since then.

Hmm, my first flight on a 747 was in the mid 1970s and I too have distinct memories of it being much roomier than the current config. But perhaps that is because my legs (and the rest of me for that matter) were considerably shorter than they are today .

Yes, have to say that flying LHR-SYD on BA in first class in 1974 was rather nice.

The whole of the upper deck on the 747 being a lounge for F pax.

My 1974 experience was down the back of the bus. I remember reading in the in-flight magazine that there was a library on board and I went looking for a room with rows of books on shelves. I was disappointed when the FA showed me a few magazines that brought no interest for a child .

We were seated in the blue section. Each section was coloured different, and we had to walk through the red and green sections to get to the blue section down the back.

My first memory was flying NRT-LAX on Pan Am in "Clipper Class" was their business class as a kid. I saw people seated at tables talking to each other then had the pleasure to go to the coughpit via the lounge in the upper deck:mrgreen: . It was not till later that I discovered the joys of "WHY" and I have tried to look forward since

Hi,

All this talk about longer trips being cheaper and unadvertised sales
going on for 3 hours got me thinking the airlines are really screwed up.

So what would be a fairer (for both airline and oursevles) of pricing
long haul trips beyond just origin and destination and class of travel.

I would suggest:

a) Weight (the larger the person, the more jet fuel!)
b) Leg-room in economy (I would pay $100 for a 5 more inches)
c) Quality of meals (no reason they can't serve business meals
in economy for a price)
d) anything else?

Also, be warned that I passed my U.S. citizenship test last week,
so I'm now also an American as well. So your going to see some changes
in my behavior from now on ... All oil in the world is ours regardless
if its in the U.S. or not and all poor people need is to help themselves :shock: .

b). United already do that. Not sure if it's $100, since my gold card gets me Economy Plus for free, but if you pay a higher fare you can get the extra leg room.

c). Have some food in the lounge before you board, and some of that other stuff to wash the food down. Who cares what they serve on the plane as long as it's cold, comes in a can or bottle, and they have lots of it

d) I reckon there should be an extra charge for people who don't understand how to wait their turn to board the plane.
