Entree: buffalo mozzarella and heirloom tomatoes. One the standard vego options that I go for in the F lounge. I love cheese, so this dish was a natural choice for me. Also wasn’t too keen on the olives or the soup.

Mains: Roast eggplant with peperonata, zucchini and basil. Ah-me-zinggggg dish 😍 the eggplant was so soft and the peporanata on the top tasted so good - a must try dish IMHO.

To wash down the entree and main - Bush Chai. Served in a tea pot, piping hot. This tea had a mix of so many spices that the flavour profile kept changing as steeping time increased. The tea started very mild with hints of anise, but as it brewed, strong cinnamon, fennel flavours over took the anise. For me, this tea was the perfect accompaniment with the dishes I had today.

Dessert: affogato. Was going to go with the pavlova, then I thought, it’s been a few years since I had an affogato. So affogato it was and it was a good choice. The espresso was velvety and the macadamia liqueur blended well with the espresso and the ice cream. Will try this again on my next visit.

As always, a side of fresh chilli to keep things interesting 😎

I was reading your post wondering where the chilli was, and then saw the final photo 😀.
What was the name of the macadamia liqueur?

Every afternoon we are brought a selection of canapes.

A couple of hours later dinner. The second night once again in Waterside. We both started with a duo of crab.

And I then had a nice cauliflower cappucino.

The next morning we were up too late for a restaurant breakfast so just coffee and some goodies at the Bistro.

Okie, back to SYD QF F lounge. My MH to KUL was cancelled last night. So I rebooked myself into QF67 to BLR.

Brekkie time!

When I’m in the F lounge, my staples are a Virgin Bloody Mary, followed by corn fritters (hold the bacon) and 2 slices of sourdough. But today I wanted to try something new. So skipped the Bloody Mary, skipped the corn fritters and went with the below.

IMG_4715.jpeg

Started with Bush Lemon Myrtle and Ginger tea. Very calming and relaxing for me.

Yogurt with QF honey and nectarines. The honey wasn’t overly sweet, but gave a nice reminder that it existed. Paired well with the nectarines.

Toasted sourdough with avocado, goats cheese and sundried tomatoes. Hold the bacon please. The wait staff asked if I’d like to add hash brown and I was like “yes, puhleeese” 🤣 #NoBrainer!

As one might notice from my posts, I’m a huge fan of cheese. So going with the avocado and goats cheese was simply waiting to happen. Once I saw the cheese in there, I was like “I’m gonna have it” and have it, I did. Very nice dish, served with a side of hash browns.

Turkish bread with Aleppo chilli butter. Hold the eggs please.

Now, this dish - completely missed my gaze the first time around and boy was I glad I perused the menu once again and went for this. After I had finished the avocado and goats cheese sourdough, the wait staff approached and asked how the dish was. I said it was really good and they asked if I’d like another one … I was like “should I, should I not” and then I thought I’m coming out of flight cancellations and IRROPS, so I deserve another serving of fermented dairy to soothe me nerves. I said yes to a second serve. The wait staff went to put the order thru.

I then glanced at the menu and the words “Aleppo chilli” caught the corner of my eye. Eyes wide, I walked up to the wait staff that took my order and asked if I could have the Turkish bread with Aleppo chilli butter instead of the avocado and goats cheese sourdough. They were more than happy to change the order and even ordered a few hash browns.

And then the dish hit the table - wow! What a culinary masterpiece … the almonds, dill, chilli butter and toasted Turkish bread - heaven on a plate. And the Bush tea helped reset the palette after every bite. Amazing!
