What cheeses me off

I thought you found a place??
What's "affordable" 400/week?
Have not found one yet. Up to $600/week is reasonable and affordable but competition is tough.

We went to inspection on Saturday lunch time. About 15 people there $600/week. Nice place ticks most boxes. Applied. Notified this morning that our application has been rejected. Why? I call them. They had 4 applications previously with owner but chose to open for inspection again giving false hope to people looking. Owner has chosen one of original applicants.

The arrogance of this industry is astonishing.

We also applied for another on Saturday morning. This one looks OK and only $550/week. Only 4 people at inspection. Application has been sent to owner and now waiting for decision. Available 4 weeks after we are meant to move out so now need to try and negotiate extension on current lease.

It's tough out there. And by the way I went outside of Toowong area to look. Same issue there. Lots of people looking and not enough properties.

Good luck John K — its a stressful process to find and then the hassle of the move. Hope you get somewhere soon

Thanks but for now not holding breath.

Just had an SMS to inspect an apartment in Auchenflower. Strange. I inspected Thursday and applied same day and I know they are processing our application. There were 25 people at the inspection + another one online.

I called agent. There's nothing wrong with our application but the owner wants more people to inspect so they can get a better feel for the market? Seriously?

I take this as another application rejected.

WCMO is the presentation of (included) wine on some cruise lines.

SilverSea. There are about 6 wines available, but no list of them is provided. You have to discover them one by one or ask for them all to be put up on the bar the first time. Then, two wines are offered at each meal, but in fact you can have any of them, if you know this. They have to scurry off and find that bottle if its not on 'today's offering'. But at least you can have it.

Ponant. Again, there are about 6 wines available and again, no list is provided. Ditto procedure to find what's actually available. But, worse than SilverSea, having found a Cotes du Rhone white that I like, I am told at lunch that I cannot have it, as they have paired lunch with particular wines. Notwithstanding that its a buffet, with all the usual buffet offerings available. Feedback on this has been provided on the early survey form to the Hotel Manager with a 'RSVP'.

There IS a wine list of wines available for purchase.
