What cheeses me off

WCMO. Im doing the speed limit, maybe 1-2 k's over (100 kmh road). Car overtakes me. Cuts in with just 1 car length. No oncoming traffic. Then proceeds to travel at - 100 kmh. 🤬. Just Why?
I've had similar to this happen to me on several occasions, including general suburban driving.
 
What's worse is 2 cars doing same speed and the car on the right accelerates to cut in front and then slow down turn left.

Seriously? Slow down, change lanes behind the car next to you and then turn left. Much safer for all but requires the ability to think which is optional when getting behind the steering wheel of a car.
 
So, can you tell I've been on open roads again today.

WCMO. Cars in right lane travelling at the same speed (aka 10 k's under the speed limit) keeping pace with the car and caravan in the left lane. Noses pointed straight ahead oblivious to the traffic jam they were creating behind them. Luckily I got through just as the gap between him and caravan car was closing but was watching the jam from afar.

Ah that's easy to answer. Normal behaviour. a) you were on "their" road and thus an affront to them and b) you were in front of them Not acceptable on either account! :)
 
WCMO today the state of taxi services in Seattle. For example, in Oslo we had no issues calling for a taxi with a car seat for our toddler. Seattle, however, not a single taxi/ride share service could provide one. We were too tired to think of looking online for private airport transfer services so we took a regular taxi and used the rear middle seat waist sash which I'm feeling terribly about today now that I have my wits about me. We had way too many heavy bags for the link rail. We have secured a ride with a car seat for our trip back to SeaTac tomorrow at 3x the price.

What also CMO was the speed that our insane taxi driver kept on the way to downtown Seattle. I saw the speedometer hit 87mph (140kph) and weaving in and out of traffic before I told him "we're not in a hurry, I'm uncomfortable with this speed" and he slowed down somewhat. Still driving like a maniac though, tailgating cars and weaving. I did not tip him.

The metro‘s not bad. Caught it earlier in year from up the hill all the way. We had one large suitcase each. Lifts in stations and quire cheap. I recall Uber seemed to be around a flat ~US$65 fare from City to SEA. That won’t have improved with a fall in the AUD 😔
 
Parents who thinks it's fine to let kids run amok in a hotel disturbing other guests.

Just checked into new hotel exhausted and there is a group of about 9 kids continually running up a down the hallways (large thundering sound on old floorboards) and yelling.

Open door and ask if they could perhaps take their game outside to the hotel playground (noting that it's warm and sunny and sun won't set for another 4 hours), and cheeky master 7 tells me he can do whatever he likes.

I've never had to call manager before to complain about other guests. Heard the manager asking kids their room numbers, and noise has now stopped.
 
.... not listening to my own mind-voice .... starting my international trip today and currently in CBR - supposed to be on the first service out to SYD (QF1420), which were boarded on time and 20 mins on the tarmac before the FO came on the PA and announced that we won't be taking off due to freezing fog :( deplaned and put on a direct CBR-MEL service to board the QF35 to SIN ....

My mind-voice during lunch yesterday was to call QF and change to a a CBR-SYD last night so that I'm bright and early do to my SYD-MEL-SIN-CMB-MAA run ... Now back to CBR J waiting to board the direct CBR-MEL in the next 30 or so mins

hindsight is 20/20, eh!
 
Why oh why do people leave long gaps to the cars in front when traffic is crawling along during congestion.

Keep up with car in front and keep traffic moving along.

Many years ago a colleague was involved in a multiple nose to tail collision. Even though he was stationary at the time, as was the cars behind and in front, the insurance companies had a knock for knock agreement, so he had to claim on his insurance. The insurance companies considered that each of the drivers had run up the back of the vehicle in front so was the vehicle at fault.
I dont know if the insurance companies still have the knock for knock agreements, but that is the reason I leave a bit more gap than some.

Same thing happened to my daughter. Sitting quietly at the lights and someone ran into the back of her and pushed her car into the one in front.

It sounds like a way for each vehicle involved to be forced to pay out an excess amount.

I think it was 1999 when I was involved in 4 car pile up on the Silverwater Rd on ramp to M4 in Sydney.

Traffic congestion on the on ramp and I stopped, the car behind stopped, the next car behind stopped but the 4th car was still doing 80km/h and hit the 3rd car which hit the 2nd car which hit me. The 4th car was clearly at fault and from what I understand ended up paying for everyone.

There is no way I would accept paying any sort of excess if I was the 2nd or 3rd car. They were stationery. Not at fault.

Anyway I think its OK to leave 1-2 car lengths with car in front in heavy congestion. It's not ok to leave 40-50 metres as I saw this morning. One car in the right lane was ~100 metres behind the car in front and was holding up everyone at the point where cars had open road in front. They were ~200-300 metres in front of me and by the time I got to the open road they were nowhere to be seen.

In my opinion people are extremely selfish and have no idea how to drive a car in traffic. I can teach a monkey to press the accelerator and brake but it takes a little bit of thought to be able to drive.
 
In UK and Ireland bottled sparkling water (not fancy mineral water) is cheaper or same price as Coke/Soft drink and comes in the same sized bottle or can.

WCMO is that back home in Australia, we are usually charged premium for a smaller bottle of sparkling water the healthier choice.

Given Mount Franklin/Deep Spring are bottled in the same factory as Coke and have fewer ingredients (water + gas, as opposed to water + sugar + colouring + flavouring + gas) why is Coke always cheaper?
