With 2016 drawing to a close, members may be kind enough to nominate one comment (or discussion) that they (fondly) remember during 2016 from AFF.

It might be a discussion that taught you something about how to use FF points better, or how to accumulate points; it might have been something funny.

No impolite 'digs' at other members or sarcasm: that wouldn't be in the spirit of an End of Year bash, although many of us might know (or know of) an individual who has got themselves into trouble at a pre-Christmas works drinks function by saying the wrong thing (especially to the boss after the said individual has had a few sherbies or vinos.)

For my two pennies, I nominate AFF member JohnPhelan's discussion about how QF was wrong to scrap two of its B744s, and his assertion that planes were sometimes delayed on international journeys ex Oz because, as he put it, passengers were at the 'bar-rrrrr!'

Pure gold.

For me it was the Hilton Honors discussion which informed me and told me how to get the status match to Hiltons Platinum. Since then I have used the status well and truely to my benefit.

The stand out for me was drron's photo and comment regarding a particular type of massage. I had a good chuckle over that one as well as mrsdrron's reply.

I'd have to give the No Doz/Red Bull thread a mention as being fairly entertaining!

Hancock's annual adventures would be worth a mention. Always great reading.

For me it was RichardMEL's post alerting me to the DSC offer from QF. Made me jump from SG to WP, no doubt about it. I may well not get a chance to fly internationally to use the F lounges while I am WP this year, but I've definitely enjoyed the J lounges with the greasy spoon brekkies. Don't get a thrill about sitting in row 4 but the cooked breakfasts have been great for day trips. Big thumbs up from me - and many thanks.

For me it was when JohnnyK posted that 'No female will ever tell me what to do' - married now with a little bubba - I'm tipping that statement no longer holds true! ;)

I liked this one from Mr_Orange in the Amex Statement Credits thread, which has been one of my favourite threads this year:

Another issue is "Breakage" - Westfield's execs rely on predictions of a significant amount of unreedemed value on these products (I have seen figures of 30% in relation to gift cards).

When people like us purchase significant amounts then redeem the lot it skews the figures - making the execs look silly ... and possibly affecting any performance bonus they may be anticipating.

Oh dear, how sad, what a shame!!

For me it is hard to go past a very generic reference to the Trip Reports. Where you can start reading a thread from the most experienced of F flyers discussing the finer points of caviar, suite sizes, F lounges and chauffeur benefits, then move to someone experiencing their first ever overseas trip in Y and ticking off some bucket list items either for themselves or someone no longer with us, then travel on to a thread covering some far flung place I've never even heard of but which sparks the imagination and re-kindles the desire to explore our world as much as possible.

Happy New Year to all.

I enjoy the "view from my office" thread. It's like going on holidays to spectacular places without leaving the office (sadly).

Hatti Jaques was Sid's missus in real life I believe and was the well proportioned middle aged lady in the Carry On movies.

Sorry, Hattie Jacques was married to John Le Mesurier - Sgt Wilson in Dad's Army plus numerous other outings - for 16 years. I actually watched a Doco. on Sid James last week, he had 3 wives but none of them was Hattie.

Hattie, of course, played Griselda Pugh - Tony Hancock's secretary on "Hancock's Half Hour" Hence why Griselda books AFF's "TonyHancock" on his various flights.

Oh, I know who she was in relation to carry-on movies ... I was just wondering what character she played in T/H's TR's ....

A question so aptly answered in the previous post! :D

Life is sad, isn't it. Struck down in my prime. :(
I enjoy two contributors from opposite ends of the scale. JohnK and his eternal pessimism (but infinite knowledge). And at the other end the eternal optimism of the drrons, as they globe trot, setting off scanners in every country with their "new" joints and pins, dragging us along behind!

Mine was some of the reactions I got from my bucketlist F trip to Texas in memory of my Dad. Some posters openly admitted to crying, which touched me greatly.
