Also did you need to bring payslips to the bank if you collected from bank?

I picked mine up.

You'll need to supply payslips.

I guess they want to make sure you can pay for it.

Just check with the bank before you decide what to do!!

One more thing which is probably not good at all, I just revised my print out of data entered, seems I have made a mistake with time length with employer. Would I need to reapply? Ive got pay slips from another employer but they are a different amount (was part time), now full time...

I think I may have shot myself in the foot as if I reapply, it will be rejected based on having applied so recently. Will give westpac a call after work...

New credit cards, yes. New debit cards, no. Subequent issues of the same credit card get posted (unless living in an area where mail is prone to theft, then you must collect).

Not in my experience. When I had a Westpac Debit MasterCard added to my Westpac transaction account over the phone, I was required to go to my nearest branch to pick it up. They said that's standard practice and I was unable to get a new card mailed to me. I'm pretty sure I even had to go into the branch to collect my HandyCard (long time ago now).

But yes, replacement cards are always mailed.

And a very good policy it is as well. I have found my policy of having everything sent to my PO Box has paid off many times, especially when travelling. One less thing to worry about.

I can assure you I do not live in an area prone to mailbox theft (nor my last house where I was required to pick up cards from the branch). When I spoke to Westpac there was no ambiguity on the issue. All new cards must be collected from the branch. And my experience reaffirms that.

I've also had cards replaced and in all instances they were mailed out (both for expiring and cancelled cards). But that's just my experience - I'm not sure if Westpac has a clear cut policy on that.

However after reading the fine print again, it seems to indicate they members will get a "Thank You" present after every year of membership. Does anyone know if they will be so generous every year?

The 25,000 pt voucher is for use with a Krisflyer redemption. Very clearly stipulated in the card info. The 'Thank you' present may be in addition.

After every year, you'll be rewarded with a special thank you for your loyalty to your Singapore Airlines Westpac Cards - for example, after you've had your card for one year, you'll receive a renewal gift voucher1 that allows you to enjoy a 50% discount (up to a maximum of 25,000 KrisFlyer miles for Platinum, and 15,000 KrisFlyer miles for Gold) off an economy saver redemption ticket or upgrade.2

Now I draw your attention to that...economy saver. Though oddly the term economy saver is not used in the fine print.

The voucher (25,000 miles for Platinum Cards, 15,000 miles for Gold Cards) is only available for one-time use for one ticket or upgrade on Singapore Airlines for either the Principal cardmember or their KrisFlyer redemption nominee. The 50% discount is only applicable to the KrisFlyer miles required for the redemption of the award ticket or upgrade. The 50% discount is not applicable to miles used to pay for KrisFlyer service fees or to fees, taxes and surcharges chargeable for the flight. So there are a few conditions on it's use and it is not clear (see highlighted text in blue) whether you can still get the 15% on-line booking discount..

These conditions reduce its value to me as to get full value you have to fly on the one trip witha redemption worth 50K or more in economy. My current SQ redemption plans are all in J.

Now why don't they give us 25000 points instead? Would have been a lot easier to manage as well great for us. Instead the voucher is very restrictive for its use, especially with $250 annual fee come into play .....

When I last looked at the Westpac Krisflyer promo site I recall they had a points redemption example in their display table of a J class redemption.

As of a few minutes ago the site at http://info.westpac.com.au/singaporeairlines/PlatinumBenefits.aspx was down, so I will check again later.

The Business example is for an upgrade.

For redemptions the table has Saver as well as Standard Economy examples. (ie as per the fine print, but not as per the body text).

Unfortunately the wording is not precise.

Hi all,

Background: Heading to the greek islands for a holiday in august this year.
QFF has limited seat availability even though I have enough points for a return flight. I'm considering paying the full cost of a return filght this year and using the miles towards redeeming a flight next August aswell.

I am considering moving to Krisflyer who have lower points cost to redeem flights to Europe. As far as I can tell:
There are 3 types of freq flyer bookings (saver, regular and full).
I've got a quote online for a return economy saver award booking for the dates we're looking at going this year (and assume the cost in points will be similar in 12 months). 15-AUG - 12-SEP 2010
Miles Required 80750
Airport/Government Taxes AUD 162.80
Carrier Surcharges AUD 436.20



Now, with the kirsflyer gold credit card you get 5k points for signing up (10k for platinum) and next year you get 50% off frequent flyer redemptions (up to a maximum of 15k points for gold cards, and 25k max for the platinum card)

If I buy a return ticket to Greece this year with the Krisflyer credit card I'd get double miles for the trip.
= 38 092 miles for the flight (9523 miles each way x2)
+ roughly 2500 points for the transaction put through on the card

Can someone confirm this?


Using the above with a gold card we have a cost of 80750 - 15 000 = 67 750 points,
and I've already got 45k points from the flight you paid for in full and the signup bonus. So I'd only be 20k pts short of a return flight in peak time.

With a platinum card it's 80750 - 25 000 = 55 750. and you'll already have 50k points from the flight and signing up for the card. So after putting through less than $5k on the credit card in the next 12 months you'll claim a return flight to Athens for ~$600 in taxes and surcharges.



Have I completely miscalculated? It seems like a much more generous program than QFF (almost too generous).
