that's nice work. 20K Krisflyer is good - just 25K for a return trip to NZ.

I am VERY impressed with the customer service of this card so far!

I had a BIG day shopping last weekend, and after spending about $2000 I missed a phone call. Then received an sms AND email about 10 seconds later saying my card had been suspended, due to possible fraud. Please call on xx_xx_XX to discuss.

So I call back and explain my spending for the day, damn 3 points per $1, :D card re-activated and back to shopping :D

Now my Platinum Amex Charge card with Amex.....

I have had my card cut off at least 4 times now, both here and overseas for possible fraud, and only in 1 case Amex tried to call me, and even then tyey called me at work when I was using the card in the USA..... Great work Amex!

I understand being cut off, but Westpac call me, smsed and sent me an email advising of being cut off. Amex on the other hand just cut you off and let you call them, meanwhile your card is declined at a dinner with clients... Not a great look, but funnily enough most of them understood the cough service provided by Amex!

Quick question about the card - perhaps someone who has one can clarify.

If I use the platinum amex overseas before Oct 30th do I earn

1.5 points per AU$1
or
3.0 points per AU$1

Its not explicitly spelled out so it could be possible for them to pay up only on australian purchases.

It is explicitly stated in the table on KrisFlyer, that it earns 3 per AUD1.

Hey guys!

I've just checked my miles earned for my first statement.

KF BASE MILES 68648 0 0 Westpac Banking Corporation - Cobrand
KF ACQUISITION 10000

Westpac Banking Corporation - Cobrand
KF BASE MILES 68648

So what I don't get is the breakdown of point per $ earned?
Where do I find this? on Krisflyer site? or wait for a statement from Westpac by snail mail?
I've tried poking around krisflyer member options but have not found anything and the "redeem rewards" part on the online banking for westpac is just for my altitude card.

Krisflyer will only show the totals.

And from what I have seen Westpac do the same. So you wll have to estimate yourself and if you believe there is a mistake query it with Westpac.

Unfortunately they do not show a per tx record like Amex does. However I think Amex is the only one that does. one of my other cards have ever had breakdowns. ie Citibank , earth, etc

Would someone be able to explain what the 10,000 KF Acquisition points are?
Thanks

Bonus points for chosing the card and/or your first spend.

Oddly enough, you can get a breakdown for the Altitude card.

HI,

I got the 10, 000 as promised and I applied through the internet through my westpac online account! Wow!

A rip off story for travellers:

On June 29 I used Westpac Amex Kris credit card to pay a U.S. hotel bill.

The account was $US720.38 and the final cost was $AUD951.44 which represents a net 0.757 exchange when the actual rate was at least 0.80.

Getting ripped almost 6 per cent is not very nice as they double dipped with a fee for use of $31.71 plus a cough exchange rate to get the true cost up by a $50 note all up.

This new card is one I will only want to use in Australia.

I've been watching the transactions going through on the card in the last month. I have also felt that the transaction cost on the card is certainly higher that the Altitude Amex. I'll get a better picture when we reconcile the card at the end of the month.

At the 3 x earning rate it is still good. When the intro period expires I'll review the best return. I have enjoyed 120k point earn on the card in the first month, now praying for the SQ fuel fines to drop.

Altitude and Altitude Gold Amex cards do have lower Westpac processing fees than the rest of the Westpac Amex cards.

Maybe they are making them more obvious.

It is explicitly stated in the fees and charges. e.g.

westpac said:
For all Cards other than Altitude American Express Card, or Altitude Gold American Express Card:
A fee of 2.0% of the value ....

Good point....

I must admit though that I find a lot of cards are heavily penalised when used overseas...and so I try and pay in cash as much as possible outside Oz.

I suppose it also begs the question of which cards have lowest fews for Ocverseas purcahses.

I tend to use my Wizard MC for accessing cash.

For those celebrating getting 20K....you may now find the mistake has been rectified and 10K deducted. :(

A tip for the future may be to not post such mistakes on a public forum.

May not have made any difference, but then again there is no point drawing attention to such things either ....for there are lurkers.

In this case I suspect that the mistake was always going to be rectified.

I was happy to have the extra 10k, but I was a bit disappointed to see it removed from my account.

Oh well, win some, loose some.
