Just received an updated WPAC SQ Amex card with contactless - so at least they are updating the cards for the time being.

I received my updated Amex card yesterday as well, and my first thought was the same as yours - that they're not planning to get rid of the card in the near future.
As long as they don't "enhance" the points earn rate any further (or stop the ATO points earn) I'll be happy.

I received new cards in June and they are contactless so it's been around couple months now. YES will really put a cat amongst pigeons if they drop the ball on this one.

I don't think they necessarily have any plans to cancel, they've amended the earn rate. There are plenty of examples of cards no longer marketted remaining in circulation for many many years.

Seems strange they would update conditions of use on an old card like this if nothing has really changed.

Noticed international spend gets 1.5KF miles per $ on the Visa, but only 0.5KF miles for Amex. Not sure if that is new.

Not quite sure where you're looking, but I'm seeing AMEX as 1.25/$1 for all spend, and then Visa with 0.5/$1 in Australia and 1.5/$1 overseas (so better to use Visa overseas than AMEX).

Yes that was quite a read. I had given up on their Amex card to pay SQ and never thought of trying the Visa card for the bonus.
Thanks for the 1.5 Kris Miles post.

Just received this note on my latest statement, 4 April is when the amex card will end.

Important notice - Your Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum American Express® Card will close on 4 April 2018 Regulations introduced by the Reserve Bank of Australia earlier this year, affect credit cards issued by Australian banks, particularly bank-issued American Express Cards. In response, we have reviewed our reward credit cards and want to notify you that from we are closing all Westpac-issued American Express Cards. If your American Express Card expires in March 2018, you will not be reissued with a new card, and your card will close earlier on 31 March 2018. You will no longer be able to use your Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum American Express Card from the date of closure. If you've set up any automatic payments on your American Express Card, you'll need to contact the merchant directly before your card closes and provide alternative credit card details. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. You can continue to use your Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum American Express Card to earn more points until it closes.
These changes do not affect your Singapore Airlines Westpac Platinum Visa Card and you can continue to use your card as you do today. "

Hi Arowana,

I got the same notice with my most recent statement.

My card expires in March so I only have until March 31.

Thanks Arowana I just received an approval for St George Amplify yesterday.

Thanks, pretty annoying news.
Is it worth using the Visa for ATO?
Also don’t forget Visa is still 1.5 KF miles per $
Overseas

St George is better Dr Ev.

Thanks Cove

I guess the effectively 0.825 KF miles per $ With Amplify Signature is the best I will now get for a Visa or MC uncapped

I will still use the Westpac Platinum Visa for 0.5 KF miles per $ at ATO (Very annoying the ATO surcharge for Visa has gone up)
I think the 1.5 KF miles per $ for overseas spend with thge Westpac KF Visa is still very good
