Honey - I'm home............................

Re-applied and warmly welcomed back into the family - hopefully pts earn structure here does not change going forward.

Looks like I'll also need to re-join after 3 plus years away. Probably make it my free WP card and downgrade the Altitude black to the standard Altitude at $100 per year, to keep my WP stockpile alive!

Change of plan and now keeping the Black as I can't get the KF card as the complimentary one. Just got KF card in time, applied online on Friday accepted yesterday and the card is now "no longer available". Half price ($125) for first year and 10k free points sign-up bonus!

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have 7 wallets of credit cards, loyalty cards, travel insurance cards, hotel cards, health cards, UK cards,US cards and gradually the ATO ones are being nixed. I guess it is about time to really use the titanium bladed 3M scissors on quite a few of the ATO credit cards that are now pointless so to speak.
I paid a 6 figure amount of ATO due next month on the silver donut card a month early and then zeroed the card balance to get my Qantas points balance restored. I enjoyed doing that and I can see the points are earned but not yet transferred. Getting from Perth to the east coast chews up 72,000 points on Qantas to go in business class return and has a retail value of around 10 times the true cost. This saving will be halved shortly.

Yes, I may have to use QF points more now but this really is a good example of why I don't think QF points are great value! 72K points gets you a lot further than within Australia on some airlines! Am well aware you know this but a shame its going to be that much harder to get SQ points (and the alternatives of US and LM no longer have quite the same easily obtained value).

Is it impossible to get 3 X J awards on qf on the same flight? Eg Syd-lax, syd-sin

Not impossible. ..I recently got 4x J Syd-Hnd...got the first 2 online, and then got QF to release 2 more as a Plat member:)

Possible, Regularly score 3J from Mel->Sin. Always get ticketed for 2 J savers straightaway, but gets waitlisted for the other J. This usually clears (at least for me) a week before flight, although this time it only cleared 3 days before.

Ok thanks. I just don't like to take my chances on wait listing that's all. And I'm not plat so can't release for me :(

I'm a bit out of touch with the latest Credit Card happenings, just been happy with my Westpac Krisflyer Platinum.
But with Amex dropping to 1.25 miles per $ soon and the Visa at a poor 0.5 miles per $ is it time to change cards?
The obvious reason to stay put would be that it's one of the few remaining full points ATO cards, but how long will that last?

Is there a better KF miles earning card that is still accepted for ATO payments?

(My spend is about 1/3 Visa 2/3 Amex + Put enough through the card that yearly fee not a major issue)

I think even at 1.25 the Amex is as good as you can get for SQ and for me beats 1.5 QF points but everyone has different valuations!

Second that. Amex is (for me) still a good earn ratio for all ATO spend. All other spend goes through citi prestige!!!

Spent the last couple of hours looking up Krisflyer compatible cards.

I think Kimster is right, the way to maximise Krisflyer earn is to use the Westpac Krisflyer Platinum Amex for ATO (while it lasts)
and Citi Prestige Visa for everything else.

My understanding is that for Visa, nothing can touch the effective 1.33 SQ miles per $ with Citi Presige. (In fact NO card can beat 1.33 SQ miles per $ domestic spend after 1st April as far as I can tell - 1.33 is better than the soon to be 1.25 earn rate on the Westpac Krisflyer Platinum Amex)

Also everyone accepts Visa, so no Amex rejection issues.

Also massive plus is no expiry on Citi Prestige points.

Only Citi Prestige drawbacks are no points with ATO spend and the $700 annual fee. Any way to reduce this?

If you are Citi Gold you can halve the fee but still too rich for me when Signature is free.

Citi Gold doesn't appear available any more.
By my sums, Citi Signature earns 1.0 Krisflyer mile per dollar spend vs 1.33 on Citi Prestige.
But annual fee is $299 vs $700 (Although it seems you have that waived)
The Prestige seems the go if putting a high spend through it
