Anyone got a packaged card or Plat card no fees and successfully applied for this offer?

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Please correct me if I am wrong but you have to pay the annual fee to be eligible for the 60k bonus points.

Oh wow - you're right. That's really sneaky - they stuck that in the fine print of the T&Cs:

More about the bonus points offer
The bonus points depend on your choice of Rewards Program. Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, refunds or balance transfers debited from the card account. Switches, upgrades, customers accessing employee benefits or packaged cards are ineligible. In order to be eligible customers must have been charged the standard annual fee.

During the application I wasn't given a choice between 60,000 points or annual fee waiver. If they are mutually exclusive offers then how do you choose between them?

Good question. Also worth noting those who are doing this in branch or over the phone aren't even getting to see T&Cs (though some canny people have asked for an email to confirm). Also the T&Cs on Qantas site are different to those on Westpac site and there is a strong case that the Westpac site is deceptive (you shouldn't have to read the small print to see the offers are exclusive).

Hard to see how this is not going to blow up in Westpac's face, I have the Qantas site PDFd (which does not have the exclusion) and will be using it in any discussion with FOS.

For those interested in bonus points posting time,my 60k credited to QFF overnight, first purchase 30 Jan.
(I paid the annual fee, signed up before all this 'no fee' malarkey arose)

Watching closely, got my fee free card and made first spend. They can't possibly get away with this if it is true, it contradicts the wording of the offer and is misleading advertising.

From the ACCC web site
[h=3]Fine print and qualifications[/h] It is common practice for advertisements to include some information in fine print. This information must not contradict the overall message of the advertisement. For example, if an advertisement states that a product is ‘free’ but the fine print indicates some payment must be made, the advertisement is likely to be misleading.

For the initial promo where you only got 60K free points the T+C is valid.

They then added the fee free offer to the page for existing customers with (in my view) not updating the T+C's correctly.

Otherwise, I concur that they would be in breach of the misleading advertising ACCC rulings.

Has anyone emailed them to check by any chance?

When I applied in branch about a month ago the info I was given was no annual fee for first year & 60k pt sign up bonus. I will be mighty pissed off if this is not the case. Might go into the branch again tomorrow and confirm.

I've activated my cards and the CSR confirmed no annual fee first year. I applied online without any Westpac accounts but happened to remember my old online login. Now to see if I get the points...

T&C also say wait up to 3 months for the points

I just applied over the phone as a non Westpac customer and was approved. Need to ID myself and pick the card up at my local branch.

60,000 points, no annual fee, thanks WBC.

This was one of four cards today (220,000 points for $350 if I'm approved for all) so that's me out of the game for at least 6 months...

Thanks AFF for all the help!

Four cards in one day, impressed but also somewhat amazed the "system" let you away with that, well done!

Well, still being reviewed by NAB and Citi although the theory is that they'll all call on Veda at the same time and Veda's system may not update immediately. I'll report how I go!

Just got off live chat with Westpac and advised as a current customer qualify for the points bonus and no annual fee , printed of transcript so of to the local branch and see how I go.

Would u mind posting the transcript Rallo? Just in case any of us need to use it to support a claim to have the points allocated.

Unfortunately the transcript didnt help , went to local branch and advised by staff member the T&C's were either points or fee free year , I took the 60000 points and will be interested to see if anyone receives both .

Very interesting. I was advised over the phone it would be both; lucky I have the name and location of the person I spoke to and the exact time

I got approved yesterday of the phone as an existing customer with the earth black already. The CSR said it's free for the first year and points will credit.
