Thoughts on best method to secure 'Premium Tix'? Buy online in advance? At certain London ticket offices? Not interested in 'discounted restricted view' type tix but rather quality tix - although discounted prices warmly welcomed.

We used axs.com for Adele. If all else fails ticketstosee should get you the best tickets but not the cheapest ones.
What type of show....cricket, football or more culture thing.
We enjoyed Curious Incident.

I usually book directly through the theatre website. Avoids agent booking fees. Many theatres use "print at home" tickets which avoids queuing to collect tickets.

Yes for musicals we tend to do matinees and then have dinner. We usually book these tickets direct with the theatre.

What about trying the concierge service on a premium credit card?

Amazon have a ticketing service. Just had an email from them this morning.

Wow CE you have unlimited talents. Avoid any Bollywood show as they are designed for an Indian audience.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I have found that the various discount ticket places in the main actually only really sell cheap seats at cheap prices (ie you are really paying full whack).

The ones that abound near the theatres, and in tourist areas, actually just sell the cheap seats witha mark-up. Avoid them like the plague.

As in NY I have found that in London that generally you get the best still available seats at the best prices by going into the theatre itself to book and ask what is available.

However for new shows that are sold out, or near too it, that does not work in terms of getting reduced prices and so for certainty and trip planning buying in advance online is probably best. However London has so many, many shows on that is rarely a problem.

Last time in London we gorged on 6 shows in 5 days.

Matinees often allow a better selection of seats and/or reduced prices.

Well today we were in the area so we dropped into a theatre to buy 2 matinee tickets. First price was £72.50 each so I asked about seniors pricing.....saved £85 and we have really good seats. Needed no proof of status but we do have National Rail senior cards that we did not need to produce.

We asked at the theatres but generally they had A tix for base price without the booking fee. Considering the booking fee can be very expensive sometimes, it may be worth it. I normally start with Theatre Monkey and then look at each theatre's online site. Think we went to 4 in London and used 4 different booking places. However, each time I started with Theatre Monkey checking out the seats because there were a lot of A seats which weren't very good.

As a recommendation, go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I never thought it would go to stage well but it was excellent. If you see any good (or bad) ones give us a heads up as I am trying to fit in a little stopover in London again next month to see a few more shows. With 4 kids who all do Musical Theatre, its a little passion of ours.

BTW for Broadway, check out Audience Rewards. You can score a lot of FF rewards through them.

Try 'TodayTix'. They sell tickets for up to a week or so in advance. They operate in London, NYC, SFO, LAX, DC, Boston and Connecticut.

We loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we were amazed that Kinky Boots was acclaimed as the best show. It gets down to personal preferences. I am not saying don't go and see Kinky Boots nor Matilda as they are good ones.
Never think it is a kids show.....

Isn't that like a kiddies show? It's Cruiserette and myself seeking tix Moiny - not Tommy and penegal!
I don't think there is any musical I would call a kiddies show. My favourite musical is Matilda. There is very few musicals with as difficult a main part as that, especially when you consider they are 8-10yrs old. The one I am most looking forward to is "Book of Mormon". We were in NYC for 13 days and it was fully sold out until the night we left and then empty for weeks *sucks to be me!!!* :( Avenue Q is up there as well (see what I did there :) ).

ps. I really really really want to know the story with the 3 of you. Is it a late night thing in LA first class lounge.. too many drinks waiting for the midnight flight.. things got a little awkward.. you had to do a walk of shame down to your seat in 1A? ;)

Matilda,Jersey Boys and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are shows that impressed us. Kinky Boots is ok and the crowd really liked it.

I'm in NYC for a month. Getting tickets to 'Hamilton' is hard. But, everyday they run a lottery for the whole of the front row for $10 a ticket. The odds are about 50,000 to 1, but you gotta be in it to win one. ;) I saw The Lion King and I considered that about worth $30, which is what I paid. I saw Kinky Boots half price. I also went to the Met Opera, Othello, and bought a standing ticket for $40. Then, at the first interval, we sat in empty $350 seats right at the front.

Yes we will need to book Hamilton tickets before we head to New York later in the year.
