It's exhausting. I think I have one more vintage left of the Wendouree circus, I have more than enough bottles to keep me going for a while. And me, I just sent my first letter this weekLooking forward to join the chat 'What will I get?" in a few years

Make sure to hand write it, after Chat GPT has done its magic!I’m about to do the same. Have been meaning to for the past couple of years but the idea of actually composing a letter full of BS was tiresome. Enter chat GPT and now I’m ready to go.
Mine was a typed Word Doc with a signature at the bottom, still got me on the list a few years backMake sure to hand write it, after Chat GPT has done its magic!
As was mine, and I even broke the first rule of fight club and spoke about fight club, aka this thread.Mine was a typed Word Doc with a signature at the bottom, still got me on the list a few years back
I turned it into an homework exercise for my 13 years old daughter. I gave her a little brief and she wrote a fantastic letterI’m about to do the same. You will surely have a couple of bottles- but it will taste like Yellowtail if you open it for her 18th.I turned it into an homework exercise for my 13 years old daughter. I gave her a little brief and she wrote a fantastic letter
Now she ask me every day if I got a response
Fingers crossed we will have a bottle of Wendouree for her 18 birthday![]()

I totally understand that Wendouree and most nice wines need to age to be great but if a young Wendouree taste like Yellowtail then I will be very disappointed!!!You will surely have a couple of bottles- but it will taste like Yellowtail if you open it for her 18th.
you’ve had Yellowtail? they don’t have fruit and freshness? We tasted through the range of the last release and calling it Yellowtail is completely off the mark - they have fruit and freshness. However, the magic is definitely when they age, to me its because they retain fantastic freshness while gaining complexity.
Some may be writing this. But then again anyone can write anything they like, but that doesn't make it valid. Within the last 3 months I've spoken with the Bradys directly. In short, nothing has changed. Drink early at your peril. A generational change will soon happen at Wendouree and the future wine maker for Wendouree has been identified. This may mean a change in approach (although I doubt it), but for now nothing has changed and the Bradys are quite insistent about this. The Bradys have never desired to make drink now wines. They are very modest, genuine, generous people, well aware of the legacy that they carry with the Wendouree name.I could be wrong, but I have read somewhere that the current and the most recent releases are made to be consumed sooner than their previous vintages.
I think that they do. So is a can of Fanta.you’ve had Yellowtail? they don’t have fruit and freshness?

Thanks for these @olympicwiz
I think these reviews and near term drinking windows affirm my earlier comments about the wines these days being lighter and more approachable at a young age than yesteryear. I dont know why, and I don't think it is purely down to vintage. The style has changed/evolved.
The Wendouree wines have traditionally been considered 'long termers' (and historically they have been!). Id say for this reason, people have been hesitant to get a look in whilst young. I myself probably have traditionally only had a sniff once they're 5-10 yrs, with the aim to keep for long term...
But... my recent Cab vert., and my friends Malbec vert., and other comments from friends is that whilst the wines these days (say since 2015) may go the distance (Gaz suggests 10-20) they are better/best at 5-10... not 20+
I for one, will be drinking what I have sooner than later and not keeping for the long haul.
