On the <already delayed> flight from Jakarta last night, after a seemingly endless taxi prior to takeoff the above statement was made by the CSM. Not sure why but my first thought was a stowaway was on board! However it turned out to be another drunken Aussie hero who was deplaned for being abusive to staff. I guess an announcement that we are returning to the gate to throw off the passenger in row 51 may have given the game away.
Obviously quite annoying because the passenger and her partner refused to take their hand luggage, so that had to be sorted, checked luggage had to be found and removed from the plane, paperwork redone and a new departure slot organised - so quite a delay.
However well done to the Captain for taking decisive and quick action to look after his crew and pre-empt a likely unplanned stopover in Darwin to remove her later anyway.
I was in row 4 so heard what she had to say as she was leaving. Normal stuff "thanks for the hospitality Qantas" "I'm disabled". I'm not one to reach for the Bogan label - but seriously she departed with some racial slurs for the Indonesian security staff and then the ultimate bogan statement: "I'm calling a current affair".
Anyway that was my Qantas inflight entertainment for the evening.
