Thank you for the suggestion.

We are putting this add-on through its paces now to make sure it does not interfere with any other add-ons we are using. If testing goes well, it will be installed in due course.
Thanks for the update.

Thanks for the update.

At this stage we have run into a few problems with that add-on. As I mentioned, we needed to put it through its paces to see how it interacted with our other add-ons and at this stage there is an incompatibility somewhere. I do not have a timeframe on when this add-on could be enabled. It was a good suggestion and we shall continue looking into it and others.

Last week I don't believe I received emails for 2 of the threads I follow, "You know you are old when" and "Flybuys Targeted offers". I got some emails for these threads but when I checked "unread watched threads" there were more posts than what I had notifications for.

One missing email I can put down as me deleting it by accident but 2 emails might be a pattern.

That sounds like expected behaviour.

The way the notifications system works is that you get a notification and/or email for the first post, but subsequent posts you do not unless you have gone to the thread and viewed the first notification. So if you received a notification on the site and/or an email, but you did not view it straight away, any further posts would be ignored and you would see them when you clicked the notification for the first post. After that, you would get a notification again for the next single post.

The add-on that was suggested upthread would have altered this behaviour to display a notification and/or send an email every time a new post was made, even if you did not acknowledge the first notification. It would also have done a few other things, but in testing over the weekend we found some issues.

The slowdown of the Christmas period may give us a chance to work through them, but as I said, there's no ETA at the moment I'm afraid.

Sorry, I meant to say that I got emails for the threads, checked the thread but no longer received any more emails for the threads after there had been more posts. I only found them by chance when I was double checking the unread watched threads page just to check that my unread emails matched the unread threads.

This behaviour is excellent.

This behaviour would be very, very bad!

This is not the expected behaviour.

In my experience, I received a notification of your post #63 and checked the thread. I responded and then received a notification of your post #65, but did not check the thread as I went out. I did not receive a notification of @Mr_Orange’s post #66 as I had not checked the thread after the post #65 notification. This is expected behaviour.

To some it would be very good. The add-on may allow it to be user selectable, however the incompatibility means we currently can’t test this.

In my testing, the notification system works as expected. For some it does not but it’s hard to determine why.

Now you are talking. User selection would be very good.

Something is happening that I do not quite understand and makes no sense.

I'm subscribed to the 'Free to a good home' forum. I receive notifications when new threads are created but appears to be some sort of glitch with existing threads.

I received notification of @samh004's post in Qantas hotel voucher thread a few days ago but no notification of other posts. Then no notification at all of @ksthommo's post in the Jetstar hotel voucher thread.

Is there some sort of glitch?

In between @samh004 post and the other post, did you check out the forum and/or thread to let the system know you had seen it? The way the system works is that it will notify you for a post/thread, but if you do not acknowledge that you have seen it, then it stops further notifications from being sent.

This may be what has happened here.

You could also try the trick of "Marking Forums Read" from the "Community Forums" dropdown header. You can do this for individual forums.

Yes I did read @samh004's post.

I do regularly 'Mark Forums Read' for individual forums but don't understand why I would receive notification for one thread and not another.

P.S. This is the only forum/thread I watch.
