better spending the money on updating the Windows Phone app which is and has been completely stuffed for ages

we are starting to see the apple generation hitting admin roles in our office... they have been educated on macs and you should see their face when they see a windows device on their desk.

Slightly OT, but why on earth would anybody pay the prices being demanded for an Apple Watch. Starting at around $800 and rising to approx $25k. Are you kidding me???

I'd be buying a proper watch for $25k like an IWC or a Breitling.

I'm going into Luddite mode.
I would rather wear a fake Rolex than one of these new fangled devices.
I don't extend to the price structure of a top IWC or Brietling. If I did. The apple watch would be way down on my list of potential purchases.
That being said , I love my iPhone.

My watch has a 48 hour power reserve , gives me time, month, day, date and if I really need it a chronometer which times seconds minutes and hours. All done with Swiss (mechanical ) efficiency.
I hope that this technology is not lost to the world in the hunger for new techno toys that have a life span of a butterfly. ........sigh

Why not put the development effort into sorting out the shoddy website that 99% of your customers yse, rather than some gimmicky watch that 0.1% (if that) of your customers will use? Talk about not being able to get priorities in order at this company!

Whilst I used to think like you, since purchasing my Sony Smartwatch 3 in December I have started to love it, (I am anti-Apple anything however & always will be! :) ) .
For example it interprets based on airline tickets and hotel booking emails in my linked gmail account and pops up on my watch with the status and terminal etc of an upcoming flight (not airline specific) for a hotel booking it knows what day my checkout is and if I have a flight on the same day as checkout it tells me based on current location/traffic what time I should leave the hotel to make it in time for the flight. All without having to configure anything it just does it!

It is only gimmicky as you want it to be, IMO smartwatches will be the growth item to watch over the next 2 years.

Unfortunately I think you're right.
I get the advantages. But I lament the loss of "soul" that it brings.

It's hard to argue with your assertion, but I'm with GPH here. I just don't want to be that plugged in. Besides my phone tells me all that stuff anyway and I am perfectly capable of looking at it when it notifies me of something.

You can't beat the feel of a nice mechanical watch on your wrist and being an engineer, I love the intricate designs of the movements inside.

Now I want the Watch... Still on the fence.

While the app looks very nice, I wouldn't get an Apple Watch just for the app. Unfortunately, they've priced it out of my budget and Pebble came along at just the right time again. Having been an original backer and still a user, my Pebble Time with colour display and 10-day battery life arriving in July is all I need. I'll settle for having to pull my iPhone out of my pocket to see which gate I'm at :p

If I had the money, I wouldn't buy an Apple Watch, but one from MeisterSinger, who I first saw in a QF mag a few years ago and have stuck in my mind ever since.

Plus in two years your IWC won't be obsolete and worthless!

I remember when the Lisa came out, but could not afford the $10000 needed to buy one ;)
I was a contractor at the Customs service in Canberra - they always had money :) I was in Database design at the time and our manager decided it might be good for documentation....

My watch just shows the time.
I always thought that's what watches are for.
The reason why I like Mr FM's watch is because he is totally hopeless with his mobile. It is buried in his bag or in his pocket and he never hears it. Seriously I have come close to divorcing him a few times when I desperately needed to get hold of him and I kept going to voice mail. Since he got his watch he hasn't missed a call. I am not sure of the price as it was a gift but I understand they are much cheaper than Apple watches, but whatever it is it is worth every cent from my point of view.

At first I felt exposed with the amount that Google could know about me, but what made me change my mind is that Google (and others) probably already use/read it anyway, at least I know what kind of things they could possibly know! or at least thats what I tell myself

Have you had that skin spot on the left of the watch checked out ?...just to be on the safe side. I had a BCC removed from the same place a couple of years ago
