A family member received a phone call today for flights on Sunday operated by Qantas and Emirates (Qantas ticket & Qantas codeshare). The flights are in Economy and are to Paris via SIN and DXB.
They were offered a routing via Melbourne, adding a fifth segment, with an upgrade MEL-SIN but having to pay for accommodation at Singapore themselves.
On Sunday both flights SYD-SIN are completely sold out, with all four Emirates and Qantas flights SYD-DXB sold out in Economy and Premium Economy.
It would be acceptable to fly the following day if it involved a complimentary upgrade.
What is the best avenue of suggesting this as an alternative? Call centre?
It would certainly be cheaper than offering a hotel, meals, transfers and possible EU compensation.
Thanks!
