It's a bit different from the previous version. What does the dotted line mean?

Edit: I need to learn to read. Different altitudes!

You beat me to the question, and then the answer!!!!!

Wife has already cancelled a national awards ceremony tonite in Sydney (we are in Adelaide), and cancelled a speaking engagement tomorrow due to QF putting her onto a 3.30 pm flight tomorrow which might leave or might not.
Then we both have spaking commitments in Sydney on Friday, and then fly (hopefully, if we get to Syd) to LAX on Sunday morning.

Lots of dominos to get in the right order!!!!

Meant to be flying CBR-MEL tomorrow morning for an early (important) meeting.

Have opted for an XR6 falcon down the Hume Hwy and an early mark off work :)

I'm currently in the SYD QF J lounge. (21 Jun 1130hrs). The Captain of the flight to Perth just made a personal announcement at the lounge to update passengers that the flight would be going and that they will track via Alice Springs. This will extend the flight time but will arrive. He asked pax if they would board earleir and efficiently so that they can depart earlier. Quite a professional announcement.

I am on an afternoon flight to BNE. No delays expected (at this stage!)

Cheers,

Alby

I wish we had that option!

Look at the train as a backup. It is about 20 hours I think. But you should check early as it only goes about twice a week. Great Southern Rail - indian pacific. It would be bad to miss the LAX flight.

Edit: I just checked the train. Indian pacific is no good as it only goes on Tuesday morning at this time of year. Also it's about 27 hours.

At this stage I'm not confident to get back to ADL tomorrow night

I take it you have asked for an earlier flight?

Wow! Syd-Mel is one of the busiest routes in the world is it not? This is major. I am so glad that I got my flight SYD-MEL last night.

I feel sorry for everyone who is getting inconvenienced by this - but spare a thought for poor JDevereux who as a youngster, has now been stuck in MEL for a week, witout his family or friends. In some ways I am sure it is an adventure - but there are only so many times you can eat a Luke Mangan pie in the lounge before it gets old.

I took him to the movies last week and will do so again tonight - if poor JDevereux is stuck in MEL for any longer - as I know he won't ask: perhaps there are other who have time to catch up with him and avoid the boredom?..

That is great and the kind of thing you really like to hear during these times. Kudos to this Captain :)

In MEL FLounge right now, no mention of delays or cancellations. Although a spa slot magically opened up... and the bubbly is coming faster than ever...hmmm

QF31 will now be landing at BNE. That would be quite a sight seeing a a380 at BNE. I haven't seen one there since QF's 85th birthday when Airbus brought an a380 over for PR

You have missed a few including diversions and QF training flights.

According to the prediction, MEL is not to be directly overhung by ash until at least 4am tomorrow.

As far as routing, maybe there's that sub FL240 option, at least until past the Lake Eyre basin.

Facebook tells me QF31, 5 and one or two others will leave SYD early today at 14:15.

FFS, I had problems with the ash cloud coming into MEL last week on Jetstar, now I've got my Status Run tomorrow (CBR-MEL-HBA-SYD-CBR) and it looks like I won't be going.

If I do it will be risky that I might not get back by the end of the day.

:S ah well, whatever :p
