Virgin mocks Qantas with bill board ad

I like it. It's a hark back to the DJ days when the cabin crew would tell a joke prior to the safety-dance. Ok, sure, I don't miss the jokes but I prefer my airline advertising to have a pinch of humor rather than insane patriotism (...you are, we are, where-the-bloody-hell-Straya) or dirge-anthems (...I've been too pissed in cities and run-out-of-town...) :p

Well... actually it has changed. Its a straight up devaluation...
Well said ... a devaluation in terms of points, setting unrealistic tiers and overall experience of being in a FF program.

My workplace is bustling with chatter of the changes done to the QFF program over the last week and I've seen so many people planning to jump ship in 2020.

With 50 or so people jumping ship, QF might not feel the hit, but with 50 or so customers joining VA and paying full fare flex J fares, VA could make more money and release more ads :)

Oh yes I’m sure hordes of people are moving across...

Whatever anyone’s take on this, why does QF always seem to leave themselves open for a complete p!ss-take whenever they make an ‘important’ announcement ( ‘enhancement’ anyone... ;)).

The PR work experience kids meet the IT work experience kids meet the ‘designer’ work experience kids meet the past-it ‘celebrity chef’ work experience kids - and they all believe their own BS to the extent that they are seemingly impervious to being roundly laughed at...

I think a lot of posts on here are impervious to being roundly laughed at....

Surely you can see the strategy, objective and results from the last couple of weeks?

Good to know nothing's changed.....Try getting a J class seat to LA without Platinum any further than 5 days out. To SQ we are customers, to VA We are STILL the enemy. Thanks for the reminder .

Both FF schemes need kick up the butt for mine. When are they going to have a loyalty scheme based on how many flights you have had with them rather than how you paid for the flights? Points have little to do with flight frequency these days so status points should be the measure and should be awarded for all flights.
VA sent me an email to congratulate me on taking 29 flights with them last year - i replied "thank you very much and for the effort you have rewarded me by taking my Silver status away" If one of the domestic FF schemes recognised/rewarded award flights with status points they would get my loyalty - funny isn't that supposed to be the point of these schemes

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Off topic, but 29 flights and you didn’t maintain silver? I’m staggered by that!
What proportion were award flights?

Lol- VA harping on about the Freddie awards yet again!
Whilst skytrax is hugely subjective in who their gong’s out to, the Freddie’s is hardly anything to boast about when the voting is massively skewed in VA’s favour.

They're hardly going to harp on about coming 25th in the Skytrax awards.

I like it.

I'm more concerned about the poor sentence structure. It should read "ALDI doesn't" not "ALDI does".
It doesn't say does. It says Aldi don't do... Not trying to out-pedant you, but the advertiser's error is in making the verb first person plural when it refers to the subject Aldi which is a singular entity. So you're right, but not for the reason you suggested.

Hi PDog,
Maximum of 6 would have been paid flights the rest award. I feel like i am penalised for having a Virgin Credit Card that i use to gain points or using the car hire company they ask me to in their marketing, likewise hotels.
I also pay a premium on some other cards to generate points to use for flying and have used these to fly business with VA to the USA. Bottom line is i put my butt on a seat in their planes 29 times, a lot more than Qantas. I have also held gold status previously. The worst rule i have run into is buying an economy ticket and bidding for and buying a cash upgrade to business to then find out that only economy points/status credits apply. I could have bought $500 worth of groceries at Coles and got 5 status credits. It is a mistake to award status credits for non flying activity. That's why FF points have little relevance to flight activity and therefore loyalty.
I believe status credits should be awarded every time you fly and only for flying so there is some loyalty indicator.

Congratulations to VA for calling out QFF. QFF could learn a thing a thing or 2 on how to create apathy. Cant wait for the next Biggest thing ever is happening soon announcent from VFF.
