Virgin Flair

I like the IFE, beats an AA MD80 hands down. I know that DJ & VA are different companies licencing the Virgin brand, but it would put the cat amongst the pigeons if they could align themselves, and DJ get a transpac service going connecting to VA through SFO. Especially at the pointy end of the plane, a VS/NZ style flat bed transpac connecting to VA first class would certainly be more than competitive with the comparable QF-->AA & UA products.

Presume you mean VS (Virgin Atlantic). They don't have first class ;)

PS BTW there are VS/NZ RTW products available and VS is a partner of Airpoints and NZ a partner of Fly Club.

I was actually referring to VA as Virgin America. The first class seats and IFE options they are proposing (as per link above) look reasonably good at least compared AA MD80.

Virgin are no better than the other airlines. Blanket unavailability of award seats in the weeks surrounding holidays, despite there being seats available. They're all the same!

I trust you are referring to Virgin Atlantic about award seat availability - Virgin Blue makes every seat available for sale also available for award redemptions. AirNZ does the same with Airpoint Dollars. We're not all the same - you must be too used to Qantas.

VA, I'm not sorry to say, is a dead duck.

It won't fly (don't argue with me, talk to congress).

:)

I share your sentiments, Annette, but I don't think you're quite right.

Virgin Blue is not the same, it's worse.

I just flew on Qantas today, no great FF status (Bronze, actually), but got a nice exit row seat, coffee and a nice cake. Fares weren't that different.

Ask Virgin Blue to do the same... (they'll charge you an arm and a leg),

As for Crazy Dave, he should stick to selling phones.

:)

No need to get personal Stryker. One of our values at Virgin Blue is fairness, so I'm not going to enter into a battle of wits with an apparently unarmed man.;)

It varies, but since we have moved to BFOD, I have discovered that Virgin Blue aren't as bad as I had thought (or as bad as many people on here make out).

I just flew on Qantas the other day up to BNE, row 5, cramped in had extreme difficulty using laptop (exit rows unavailable), especially when that seat in front came straight back. However did get a coke, a water and a muffin.

Flew back on Virgin, and used about $30 of the $100 saving over flying Qantas at the same time to guarantee an exit row seat (so I didn't have to get to the airport early and chance it), and another small amount ($<10) to purchase a coke & a sandwich. So still being $60+ cheaper than QF, who is "charging an arm and a leg"? And at that time of day I wouldn't have been able to get a sandwich on QF and given my time of arrival at airport relative to departure an exit row would have been unlikely as well.

Personally I don't loath flying Virgin, although would still prefer Qantas - I also fly on BFOD and used to have about 60% QF / 30% DJ / 10% JQ but over the last 4 months it has changed to more like 75% QF, 20% DJ and the rest JQ.... now either QF have dropped their prices or DJ have increased!

Virgin are ok for a LCC, I have certainly flown MUCH worse overseas!!

Are Virgin really a LCC or a slightly cheaper than normal regular carrier without full service. They seem to attempt to position above the LCC model.

What does "low cost" mean anyway? Does it refer to the cost of the tickets? or to the cost of operating the airline?

Virgin Blue to not seem to like being labelled a Low Cost Carrier, but prefer to be called a "New World Carrier" - whatever that means :p .

Seriously, you must be cracked if you think this. Dajop has it right - on DJ you actually get what you pay for - guaranteed seat location, real food, and usually at a better price. And generally in a newer plane, with better seat pitch, and happier crews, and faster board/de-plane times, and a better IFE, and better lounges.

I don't understand why there are so many Virgin Blue knockers on this forum. They cannot be flying with DJ or they would know better. I fly both and I know that what gets said about Virgin is utter bullsh!t. Just stick with your beloved QF and stop the bloody whining!

As for Crazy Dave, that has to be the best comeback I have ever seen on this forum. :D

I am not the biggest fan of Virgin but I really don't think you can complain about the price. We have been on BFOD for about six months now and I have never seen QF cheaper than DJ. No matter how far in advance we're looking, DJ is always cheaper (usually by a lot).

My impression is that QF can't be bothered competing on price for the Perth market (not since they introduced JQ anyway). QF's sale prices used to be $10 or $20 more than DJ, but now you're looking at $70 differences. Pathetic.

And QF still fill the planes at those fares. Doesn't seem to be much incentive for QF To go down to DJ's levels.

Must be a PER thing.

It pays to check all options out; e.g.In Early Feb and my BIL is coming down from BNE.

I checked out times/prices etc for himr and he is flying down on QF for $129 on a friday afternoon; this was $60 less than DJ flight's around the same time. He is returning Sunday afternoon on DJ for $142, QF at the same time was $165.

Hi there

A quick google will reveal that CrazyDave98 doesn't sell phones:rolleyes:

Which is why CrazyDave98 is in the position he is in, and why Stryker is still putting up with QANTAS "service"

Cheers
