Does Emirates acquire other airlines. They seem to like to do it themselves.Surely a government bank rolled airline like Emirates or Singapore must be casting the ruler about..

Pretty simple, hire as good a spin doctor for DJ that you are for Qantas,pauly7.![]()
The problem for Emirates is the government of Dubai is itself seeking to be bankrolled.Emirates may end up with Sir Richard itself!Surely a government bank rolled airline like Emirates or Singapore must be casting the ruler about... although I guess even governments are in trouble atm!
How about an AFF consortium to buy DJ?What would your first decision be hahah.
Thanks I think?! Didn't realise having an opinion or preference made me a spin doctor..
I vote for Platy :!:Pretty simple, hire as good a spin doctor for DJ that you are for Qantas,pauly7.![]()

yes i agree - second that!! i think he is a bit scorned by the qf group changing their fnq presence he's perfect to promote virgin blue!
i second nominate nigeloz for his virgin blue spin doctor role, so many posts in so little time - so efficient and supportive ....![]()
Absolutely :!:I also think that DJ offers a good product at a reasonable price and I support them in their role, which is primarily to offer competition to QF controlled airlines, the Australian aviation market would be a lot poorer if Virgin Blue wasn't around.
AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements
Don't have to imagine ... the QP catering was decidedly dismal 2002-2003 ...

Last weekend mrsdrron finally threw out her life member card for golden wings.Oh how I miss the Golden Wing Lounge.
She probably could have sold it on ebay, some people collect allsorts of apparently useless things.Last weekend mrsdrron finally threw out her life member card for golden wings.
Maybe not in the Aussie press. But I expect many media sources around the world are regularly reporting about the financial woes of their struggling local airlines.... but many of the worlds airlines are doing it tough and there isn't daily stories about them in the press.
You make some very valid points there,NM,and in hindsight perhaps I should have said aussie press, but it does just seem to me that over the last few weeks there have been the stories about Rex saying DJ was vulnerable to take over, and last week was the "shock horror Virgin Blue makes a loss" type of story, and I just don't see it as being in the interests of the airline or the public .Maybe not in the Aussie press. But I expect many media sources around the world are regularly reporting about the financial woes of their struggling local airlines.
Look at a Dallas news paper and it will regularly have stories on AA's woes. Look at a Chicago media course and they will regularly have stories of UA's struggles. So I am not surprised to see regular reports on QF, DJ, VA, TT in the Aussie media. And that is ok by me, so long as its the reporting is accurate and not sensationalist.
Yes, I agree somewhat with you. However, keep in mind that the DJ loss stories were around the time of the financial reporting by the company, which is required for a public company in Australia. I am not sure of TT's status regarding company reporting requirements in Australia so perhaps there is less information coming from the company in the form of financial reporting to the markets (ASX etc) and associated media releases from the company. You make some very valid points there,NM,and in hindsight perhaps I should have said aussie press, but it does just seem to me that over the last few weeks there have been the stories about Rex saying DJ was vulnerable to take over, and last week was the "shock horror Virgin Blue makes a loss" type of story, and I just don't see it as being in the interests of the airline or the public .
Nobody, least of all me,denies that DJ is suffering financially and it's share price has also suffered, but Tiger have a few of their planes parked at the moment and they also lost money last year (albeit a fair bit less than DJ).
so where are the daily stories about them?
Just my two cents worth, thanks for your views.
