Virgin Australia UpgradeMe pricing and success

Was a few weeks ago CNS - BNE return. Booked 24 June for 25th and 28th flights. $105 for both bids and was successful for the 6am flight back.

Does anyone know if doing online check-in will take you out of the running for bid now upgrades?

My first try at this. Have a long trip in business except for the first leg HBA – MEL.

$55 min was accepted on the morning of the flight.
Why would you bother for a 1 hour flight. Surely you could have survived in YX?

My wife recently flew CBR-OOL in Y and got the offer for $100. I advised her not to take it. How could it be worthwhilw in those J "cabins" that are open for the world to view and smirk? It's enough to make J pax cringe, Shame on Bain (but they have no shame, just a profit at all costs motivation).

$100 is a great deal for that route and 100% worthwhile. And most aircraft are still fitted with dividers, but even if they're not, J is still a better place to sit for 90 minutes than Y.

Actually, the non-divider configuration is more common now.
More room, comfier seat, more leg room, meal, drinks plus a couple of beers in the lounge pre flight. For not much more than paying for a normal flex economy I can go business. I can afford it and I don't fly very often so I may as well upgrade if it's cheap.
