Holy Batman that's expensive!!!!!!

Good on VA for having lifetime lounge membership (especially as QF have dumped theirs).

But that's 3 x the price it should be.

AN and QF were offering theirs for circa $3k or so. And both their lounge networks were SIGNIFICANTLY larger at the time.

And IMHO all lounges (VA and QP) offer much less than they did when the Golden Wing was still operating.

I hope you do well with this VA because competition is good, and I regret not buying lifetime QP membership when I had the chance...... But this really is extortionately over-priced!!

But - if your corporate market modeling is accurate-it might work for you.

Re: Lifetime Lounge Membership

Hopefully lifetime status aren't too far behind as well. Maybe then then lifetime Silver members could then have discounted lifetime Lounge membership

Holy hell, that's far too expensive. You're effectively asking for people to pay 22.5 years upfront.

Good luck with that. ;)

I think the QF Lifetime was based on 20 years membership. but then the prices were from a few years ago, was still around 4k before it stopped from memory.

How much is individual yearly membership,

$9750.00 seems way over priced, at $5,000 to $6,000 then I might have considered, but not at $9,750.00

At least they can say now that they offer something that QF have taken away ;)

OK - make that "something else they do that QF have taken away" as you could also include upgrade vouchers ;)

I paid $3,000 in the nineties for life QC. The VA price is too much, particularly if you maintain >Gold.

Hi guys,
To those that have commented on the price of the lifetime membership, bear in mind that there are a number of factors that we considered before settling on this figure.

It has been designed for those flyers that require Lounge access but perhaps aren't able to maintain a certain flying level as to keep Gold or Platinum status, while at the same time maintaining Lounge access value and not devaluing the benefit for those that do hold Velocity status.

Also it has been future-proofed, so as to take into account future value of money and our growing Lounge network which will provide much more value to Lounge members.

Remember if you are Gold or Platinum, then you clearly fly enough to not have to purchase such a membership.

I still can't see the value in it.

Surely the people Virgin Australia indicate are the target market for this would just purchase day passes any time they needed to fly, rather than part with 10k upfront?

I can't imagine a situation where one would fly enough to make this investment worthwhile, but not fly enough to maintain VG or VP and get access anyway.

As a Silver member, and someone who will probably fly enough to maintain Silver on a regular basis, I would have definitely considered LTVL as it's the missing piece in what I'm offered. But not at that price.

You could buy a lot of meals from the airport, and even the odd beer or two, even at inflated airport prices for near on $10k... Plus one or two RTW trips as well...

That's some pretty pricey 'me time' away from the rabble and so-so speed internet...

I think you might find the pricing is set at that level for a reason...

... And it sure makes the annual membership look cheap.. ;)

I had life Golden Wings with Ansett and have had Life QP since about 1999, but no LT VA lounge at that price. There is no incentive for Life QP to purchase/move from QF to VA, and I am that happy with recent QF flights that I would gladly move, especially the attitude of QF FA's. However, VA clearly indicate there are no discounts and as I have been burnt once, not again, at that price in any event.
