Given it's 1:15pm in LAX, I am not surprised.

(Or are you on VA1 as you indicated, so in SYD?)

Opps! Im in Sydney, stupid predictive text.

Five people now waiting outside the lounge... I'm watching from my seat.

Hi everyone.. have read through the posts here but can't seem to find the information..

The $40 vouchers.. where can I use them?

To respond to my question... The voucher is given at check in (with an apology letter). The voucher is valid at three restaurants owned by the same place. Good food, and allows for drinks too.

Has there been any indication on when this temporary arrangement will end ?

I know there is plenty of speculation around moving. I assume there will be no temporary fix other than the vouchers until the DL move.

I asked Velocity call centre the other day and they said " not sure " on all accounts. ( when, where or expected timeframe )

yep, I'm also looking at building status with Qantas. Not only is lounge access a problem, Qantas now offer better status credits than VA!

I don't think that's true, at least domestically. When I planned out my business travel for the next months I chose VA as I could reach Plat, but I'd be lucky to reach Gold with Qantas for the same flights.

It is true for the shortest legs on cheapest fares, now that they only earn 5 SCs on VA. That's 100 flights to reach gold or 80 to retain, vs 70 or 60 flights on QF. Considering this includes SYD to MEL or BNE, that's a lot of people affected by the lower earn rate.

So what time did the SYD lounge finally open Denali? I'm travelling on VA1 next week and will be staying at Rydges the night before, so there's no point in coming across from the hotel early if the lounge isn't going to be open!

TBH there's no point going across until you need to anyway. The lounge is really quite sub-par. Small, crowded, few facilities.

True - I was intending to have breakfast in the lounge though so don't want to go over too late. Actually thinking of maybe heading to the Amex Lounge instead as I have access there (well, at least I do until CBA stop issuing companion Amex cards, which I'm sure will happen now that Westpac's been the first cab off the rank).

I just went through on Wednesday last week, got a letter with an apology with the voucher on it. Ended up using the KAL lounge with my priority pass anyway. There signs up everywhere advertising VA's move to T3 with DL coming in May so im guessing for Gold members until then its going to be the 10k plus voucher.

I actually liked the DL lounge at LAX, first time I had been, I did go in with low expectations so that maybe why and the new one is meant to be even better so here's hoping its not too bad, not expecting it to be *A spec however.

Sitting in the Etihad lounge in SYD having breakfast at the moment. Lounge was open when I came through (just after 8am) and is very quiet at the moment, probably only half a dozen people here. Seems like a reasonable breakfast offering, although I tend to stick to toast and cereal anyway :). Staff have been very pleasant and friendly, and service has been good, coming around taking tea and coffee orders and bringing them to your seat. Wifi working well. All rather a relief, considering recent reports on this lounge! Still, it's only just gone 0830 so I'm sure quite a few more pax will turn up.

it wasn't too crowded whe ni was there, I got there early so for my first part there it was quite empty but starting getting a little full but there was always seats. Service was great but yes it is a little small. It was my first time there

Although it didn't open til 9AM and I had been in the international terminal since 7am so that sucked abit. I had flown across from Perth that's why. Flight had landed 6am.

Why are people discussing Sydney lounges on this thread? Confused......
