VA8, the Friday 28 August scheduled 0135 hours DOH-MEL operated by QR (B773ER A7-BAH) took off at 0217. Arrival at gate tonight at an estimated 2242 hours will be 37 minutes late.

In more on Friday 28 August, B738 VH-YWE had been sitting in BNE since 1936 hours on Wednesday 26 August but mo9st now be coming to the rescue of a sister B738.

It took off from BNE at 1837 hours empty as VA9902 for the extremely short flight to OOL where gate arrival was 1901 hours.

It's operating a very much delayed VA740, the 1405 hours early afternoon OOL-MEL that was not airborne until 1943 this evening. Gate arrival in the southern capital should be about 2149 hours, 319 minutes late. The small silver lining is passengers haven't been delayed overnight in Coolangatta.

Possibly due to the BOM's forecast of 'smoke haze' for BNE becoming reality, Saturday 5 September is seeing significant delays for flights into and ex that airport.

VA1246, the mid afternoon 1500 hours ROK down to BNE (B738 VH-YIU) did not take off until 1604 hours, so was already about 45-50 minutes late. However it's just emerged from a lengthy hold as at 1722 hours, with gate arrival suggested as 1744 hours, 99 minutes late.

VA115, the 0810 hours Monday 7 September BNE down to ZQN took off at 0914 hours. Gate arrival should be about 1422 hours, 42 minutes late for B738 VH-8II.

VA558 Perth to Sydney 11h15 was cancelled at 3am this morning which looks like a planned cancellation (although the email doesn't say why).

Of course - it's the flight I was supposed to be on today....

@Comoman , what do you regard as 'mental'? For a Y seat, $800 one way?

You 'diversion' adds hours to your trip, but luckily there must have been spare seats PER-MEL-SYD.

Just out of interest, what single or return fare did you pay for PER-SYD (and back to PER?)

Reason given in Perth lounge was ATC restrictions at Sydney tower - same flight was cancelled yesterday.

While wary of going 'off topic', I have flown in the last small number of years a couple of times using PR and then WY for a return trip to UK/Europe from MEL, all in J for c.$6,500 return. That's what competition brings thanks to the huge number of iterations of the (variable) Kangaroo Route.

No wonder when politicians or government bureaucrats submit records of travel expenditure, so much is expended on domestic flights. Extortion is alive and well.

Also on Monday 7 September, VA8 from DXB to MEL (B773ER A7-BEP) should arrive at 2247 hours, 42 minutes late.

Some Brisbane Lions fans who tried to be too clever by half and booked flights from BNE to MEL on Saturday 26 September for the same day AFL Grand Final may not make it to the MCG in time due to poor weather in MEL that's delaying a lot of inbound flights, including the usual holding patterns close to MEL.

VA314, the 0755 hours BNE-MEL (B738 VH-8VH) took off at 0915 with gate arrival likely at 1121 hours, 61 late.

VH-VYD on VA318 (0855 hours ex BNE, scheduled to arrive MEL at 1120 hours) remained on the ground in BNE at 1045. It was showing in a 'Herald Sun' online report as meant to depart at 1033, so must be further delayed.

VA322, the 0955 hours BNE-MEL has been altered to depart at a hoped for 1206 hours, meaning its 1220 hours timetabled arrival becomes at least 1431 hours: the GF bounce is at 1430 hours IIRC.

VA324 (1055 hours ex BNE for MEL) has been cancelled.

The same story applies from OOL to MEL. VA730, the 0905 hours OOL-MEL is estimated to depart at 1054. VA732, the 1005 hours meant to arrive in MEL at 1220 hours has been cancelled.
