Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Should be catered for 8 meals.
5 X protein
3 x veg

Not all flights are catered to šŸ’Æ
8 different meal choices i was meaningā€¦ schnitzel, green curry, mustard chicken, mexican chicken pide?, gnocchi, middle eastern salad, ruben, macaroni.

They used to rotate those fairly regularly. MEL-SYD for the last month has been stuck on the schnitzel ā€¦ both ways. Except for one flight where we had the mustard chicken.

VA481 SYD-MCY today. A grain and veg salad, and warm chicken sandwich - both were tasty. PDB of sparkling wine, and plenty of refills during/post meal service. We were in 2D, 2F and were serviced first as a Platinum and a Gold. Priority boarding enforced. A very good flight - definitely still better than QF J based on our recent experiences.

No pix, but I the half sour dough prosciutto and baked cheese and grated something or other on my VAd J flight, a bit past lunch MEL - ADL today.
Plus sparkling water.
Small square container of sliced salad.
And a chocolate heart shaped "desert" chew.===
O, yes, forgot the 3 crackers slices, and 3 slices of cheese as in the pix by other colleagues.

I'd usually always choose the meat option but that salad looks really light and refreshing.

VA113 ADL-DPS
2x glasses of PDB bubbly whilst awaiting paperwork to be completed
Meals were the Chicken Parmi or the Tortellini.
Both meals were superb, I had the CP and it was tender with nice sweet potato mash but despise broccolini so left that šŸ¤£
Mrs Jase really enjoyed her pasta and said it tasted fresh and had the right amount of sauce/pesto. Meals accompanied by a small plate of feta and stuffed vine leaves which was nice, the cheese and crackers and a yummy passion fruit cheesecake. Snack basket distributed several times and staff very attentive with thanks to Sam and Jade who kept the drinks flowing all flight and really seemed to enjoy their job. Both hadnā€™t been to Bali so were keen to chat and get some ideas for their 24hr stopover. Pillow, blanket and amenity kit supplied with the only downer being no wifi available but still a very enjoyable flight and time flew literally.
Shout out to the VA lounge staff at ADL who was happy to get all of our travelling party into the ADL lounge. Call at lounge at 1800 for flight and took less than 10 minutes to get through immigration and had a brief look in the duty free store. There is now a restaurant and bar open airside now aswell so passengers arenā€™t stuck with nothing. PB seemed to work, we got there after boarding commenced and were able to enter the priority line and get straight through.
Yes it was a narrow body but found the evening flight to be quite good but 5 and a bit hours is probably my limit in a recliner

lucky you get business. Perth-Darwin and Perth-Adelaide, no business class. cant use my 4 platinum upgrades. No business lounge in Darwin either.

Given the frequency of cancellations and delays SYD-MEL and v.v. during the evening peak I wonder why they donā€™t fully cater all flights between say 5 and 8pm so in the event they have to move pax, catering can be assured.

Wed 19/7 VA BNE/ADL

Was a full cabin and the CM worked it well.

Breakfast was the corn fritters with goats cheese. Iā€™ve had it before and Iā€™ll repeat my previous comment - more tomato relish on the side please. It was dry and I had to help it down with my tea.

Love the tartiness of the mixed berries with the plain vanilla yogurt. The pastry was also dry and flaky and think there was apple in the middle, but was too bland to be sure.

Two flights to report on BNE-SYD and SYD-ADL.

BNE-SYD

Meal orders taken 1c1a, 1df, 2df, 2ac.

Two options - Vegetable tart and pastrami open sandwich offered. Both were tasty. I had the tart, pastry was a little soft but filling was good and mashed potato and tomato ragout were welcome accompaniments. My partner enjoyed the open sandwich.

Was offered offered water or sparkling wine For PDB.

Priority boarding not well managed but redeemed by good service on board including helpful information about how to connect to our next flight with 30 minute turnover. Cabin manager very personable and we had a good chat about Adelaide and the hotel we were staying at.

Snacks proactively offered after meal on a tray.

SYD-ADL

We managed to make the connection, when sold the ticket (which was rescheduled as I insisted on flying J at a reasonable time rather than downgrading to Y) they said the 35 minute turnover could be done. We arrived as they were boarding, probably had 5-10 minutes to spare. Just as well we got off the plane immediately. They did call ahead to advise we were coming.

Priority boarding worked and we were able to get straight on to the aerobridge.

PDB offered of water or sparkling wine.

Orders 1ac,1df and then I couldnā€™t see.

Meals were Cajun chicken sandwich or pumpkin and risoni salad. Cabin manager used iPad to show options. I passed on a meal as Iā€™d eaten in previous flight but my partner tried the sandwich. I opted for tea and the accompanying biscuits were plated up rather than served in packet. Cabin manager very proactive in offering additional snacks and drinks

Another good flight.

Had the open pastrami too, aka QF's Yarra Burn (!).
The bread wasn't soggy, and don't know what the dressing on the top was, if it was grated radish or something, at least it didn't have onions, or pickled ginger.
The vege garnish didn't have a taste as such.
On past trips, they gave out 3 chocolate singles, this trip J MEL - ADL, they only handed out a single chocolate piece.

I had the version where the pastrami was replaced by prosciutto. (given my bad luck on meal availability Ove only been on one flight weā€™re it was offered!) The topping is sauerkraut. Maybe it was a one off catering/supply thing to have the prosciutto.

It's actually loaded 1 chocolate heart per tray. Sometimes people ask for more of these or cheese but, one item per tray.

We collect them sometimes and hoard to give out if we can but if not then maybe a snack from the pantry.
