Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

I’m one of those Platinums that is still paying for J. For me the seats are the most important thing so even if I only get that and not much else I’m relatively happy for the price
You must be taller than me (unfortunately I'm fairly sure you are not wider) as I'm more than satisfied with row 3 or similar when it comes to seating.

I’m not tall at all and definitely not as narrow as I’d like but thanks to a couple of sports injuries and my crook back I need to stretch out and can’t handle tight seats even on short flights.

Wine in a plastic cup and pretzels or something equally nasty looking. James Halliday would be impressed.

They really are not even trying, even as we are into February. No Wifi even now, to take ones mind off the whole 3rd class experience.

Flying to ADL next weekend in Biz and no lounge there, and a plastic cup of wine. Oh JOY!

Cubana does better than that. :D

Oh well, I guess this Biz offering posted here yesterday, 4 posts ago, from a few days back, was photoshopped?

Can't wait to tuck into those LAVOOSH ... whatever they are.

No one is saying it’s photoshopped so you don’t have to get so defensive.
I too have been served wine in a glass recently but it’s definitely the exception and happens rarely. I’d estimate 90% of my flights we have been given the plastic cups

Well that proves that are not even trying.

If glassware is possible on ANY sectors then clearly it is not a catering or COVID issue. Just laziness or more likely - We Just Do Not Really Care Anymore ..... writ loud.

Reports here of white wine not even being chilled in recent hot weather as there is no ice or fridge space etc sends the same message. No WiFi even into February, no ADL Lounge yet, etc.

It might not be that the crew doesn't care, more that management doesn't care about rectifying product inconsistencies/shortfalls and the crew are just working with what they've got?

.
Yes I stress the onboard staff seem just as friendly, but with this clueless and directionless gaggle of cost-cutting management they can only work with what scraps they are given.

A FA serving a CEO or a CIP who paid $800 a ticket, a glass of room temperature white wine in a cheap plastic cup, and offering them some potato crisps and a takeaway pie shop sachet of ketchup or whatever, as a "Business Meal" must get pretty embarrassed. To put it mildly.

Ms Hrdlicka and brass seems to have instilled no direction and no consistency at all across the brand. Six months to get their act together now, and it is more disjointed than ever. All total hot air and hollow boasts, and slick promises they do not deliver on. Once a year leisure travellers on Happy Hour fares do not care, but the high value biz travellers do. Virgin do not have a clue who they are anymore.

If you are going to go Tiger#2 with sardine service and seating, do that, and be honest about it. At least you are fooling no-one. Messing about with Instant noodles late year in Biz was the action of a LUNATIC, whomever approved that option.

But do NOT sell a "Business Class" seat at mega $100s and then serve pax warm white wine in a plastic cup with a few pretzels or whatever. You can fool all of the people some of the time, and some of the people all of the time, but you can't ....................

Not having Wifi in Feb 2021 there is zero excuse for. At least it takes your mind off the warm wine in a cheap plastic cup! :D

Image unlikely to have been edited - I must have been on those special Glass equipped services.

Lucky me! FA's have been enthusiastic with plentiful refills offered.

Well you did tell them discreetly you were Mister Hrdlicka .............................. :D

And you think that Lobster Thermidor, instead of pie shop sauce sachets for your Aldi preztels, was accidental too? 😁

I agree 100%.

I'm all for honesty with product. No need to be embarrassed about it - everyone knows what just happened and that life won't be the same for VA - but don't pretend, via advertising or seat pricing that there is a premium service on offer when its just not so.

Why don't VA just cancel their 'business' class product until they've got their collective cough together and can actually deliver?

Use the existing 737 J seating to upgrade status passengers but with Y amenities and conditions - just a nicer chair ... though even thats debatable on the 73H version of J ... at least you're at the pointy end though :)

Agree. It could be used as economy x until VA has solidified their vision for J and have suppliers and contracts in place.

Business class fares are shocking low on a number of routes, it’s even cheaper than Freedom fares and can be on par with Elevate.
Pretty sure Business class will improve from end of March.
Again, they are advertising a reduced services so I don’t understand why the expedition is different. Oh wait haha

I'd reckon the FA would be more embarrassed serving the regular public who had put their hard-earned money into the flight!

.
Yes saving up and booking a Biz ticket for Joe Public for a honeymoon, or very special occasion, would be a rude shock right now. If you start in ADL there is not even a lounge.

I mean real glassware - how HARD is that to organise?

You are aware that with covid the issue with glasses is that it has to be washed at a very high temperature for a long period of time to reduce the risk of covid remaining on the glass?

or to add the THOUSANDS of times that glass has been re-used.

Wine in a glass or a plastic cup, is still the same wine.

A pandemic going on. Yes a year later. People would sooner their health than a CHEAP business class flight
