Virgin Australia Boeing 737 Max 8

'MAX' is just a marketing name after all. The official regulatory designation is a Boeing 737-8 etc.

Not that much different to airlines dropping 'Next Generation' when referring to the 737-800 or 'Dreamliner' for the 787 variants

Again, correct; though you’ll be hard-pressed to find a 787 that doesn’t have “Dreamliner” proudly painted on the fuselage or an Airbus neo without the same + indicated on its safety card.

I have a small model of a Copa Airlines 737-MAX8 with “MAX” taking up the last quarter of the fuselage. It makes me chuckle every time I spot it on the shelf. Safe to say that frame doesn’t look the same in real life anymore. 😉

Deliveries now picking up.

Looks like two new aircraft inbound to Brisbane tomorrow on delivery, seems coordinated both arriving into Hawaii together.

737-8 VH-8VE
E190-2 VH-E2D

According to another site one delivery each fortnight for the next 12 weeks.

And then nothing until the max 10s, maybe 2027….or 2028….?

A couple of media articles on the MAX-10 are starting to make the rounds.

Virgin confirmed it expects to take delivery of the first MAX-10 "towards the end of 2027." They also said the seat count will be announced at a later date.

Interestingly, the couple of articles so far all state that 10 MAX-10s are on order. When some MAX-10s were swapped for -8s a few years ago, the MAX-10 order was reduced to 13 aircraft. I wonder what happened to those extra 3 -10s?

Don’t they hold options? I recall he said at a analyst briefing a while back they have ability to take more into the 2030s
