Thanks for this. I ordered the 2020 Reverend Canon last Thursday so it hasn’t arrived as yet. I will give it a couple of days to settle before I try it and then post my thoughts.I noticed it sold out pretty quickly.
As promised my thoughts on the Sorby Adams purchased from Vinomofo @ $120 for 6 bottles.
I left the wine for a week after delivery to let it settle and took it to lunch today ( Blu Ginger Indian restaurant, Canberra).Seven people for lunch and seven different reds. In no particular order, Mamre Brook 2022, Nicholoson River Winery ( East Gippsland) Syrah 2008,Petaringa Shiraz 2020,Ata Rangi ( Martinborough) NZ 2021 Pinot Noir,Shanahans “the Reaper” , Barossa 2021, Angullong “ Fossil Hill” cab sav 2016 (Orange NSW).
All those who attended are well seasoned wine drinkers.
General consensus was that the Sorby Adams was drinking well, had a good taste but a bit thin at the finish. Given a 7/10 in comparison to the others ran into third spot with the Mamre Brook.
It was felt that $ 20 was about the right price for the wine and the $75 RRP was very optimistic.
Overall ratings for the wines:the Pinot Noir on top, with Shanahans “the Reaper”, Pertaringa and Angullong cab sav equal second in popularity, Mamre Brook and Sorby Adams equal third choice and the well aged Nicholson River, a bit flat and lifeless coming in last. All a bit subjective with Indian food but generally I find reds handle it well but everyone is different and palates do vary, even on a day to day basis imo.
