Yep, that is the Gemtree.
I've had it before and I wouldn't say it is the best example of a Tempranillo, but I do like the winery's bio-dynamic methods and the absence of preservatives.
At that price it makes for a good quaffer.

If you're referring to Pirramimma Heritage I find it oaky and sweeter. Powell and son is fuller with greater concentration and overall a better wine

As a general rule 2020 in SA is not great. 2019 was the last of the normal weather years followed by 3 years of El Nino. 2021 is a better year than 2020. I don't buy 2020 MV, Barossa or Connawara. I haven't had the Pirramimma or the P&S 2020 and good wines can still be made in an ordinary year but I'd be wary.

Agree. At that price it's a good all rounder. Fine as is, fine as a slightly chilled red if that's your go. No one will complain!

The name comes from the old strawberry patch which is nearby the vineyard (I guess that the marketing team can be thankful that the vineyard was not near

Find it very dubious as how Hewitson are coming up with the RRPs like that. Used to be a reputable brand.

After the first round of Hewitson Vinomofo deals in 2013-2015 I never bought them again unless as mystery half price deals at JD Cellars, Wine Collective etc. It's certainly a little sad that they seem to need to go in this direction again, with added "made for mof_" lines.

The Strawberry Hill Shiraz 2021 is a reasonable buy at $35, better with a decent voucher, but the $150 RRP is a downright insult.

They have Old Garden Mourvedre 2019 at $40 as a "mystery" offer on Winestar too, apart from the cork seal that's probably a better deal than this Strawberry Hill.

Hey man, not looking to throw fire on you.
Neither of these wineries has a good reputation for producing consistent quality. Pirramimma is another Mclaren Vale inflated RRP character, always clearing cough through Grays, DM etc. Im not saying there isn't some good there, but you're gambling.
By contrast, Dave Powel is a great winemaker whose been on let's say an exceptionally rough journey since his exit from Torbreck. I'm looking forward to seeing him turn the corner, but I can't in good faith recommend him out for the moment.

Best advice for you would be Alex Head (>$20), Hardys HRB 2018 (~$20), GB Filesel 2019 (>$30) and Torbeck Steading (~$37.5). Reliable producers and blenders ensure quality each year.
Step up is Luke Lambert Syrah, Margan Fordwich Hill Shiraz or Timmo Mayer Syrah. All ~$50.
Remember wine is poison - so may as well drink the good stuff. Cheers!
