What's the 2016 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon?

Ok thinking it's Yalumba The Cigar

What's the 2016 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon?

It makes it hard because the % isn’t specified but the Cigar looks to be cork seal which doesn’t agree with the description (not that this means much from past history). I’d take a look at Penley Estate, they are VM regulars.

Yeah nothing from Penley matched. That was the first range I checked. Plus I know historically The Cigar has been in a mof_ mix a while back. But yeah the screw cap/cork is a curveball.

5 star Coonawarra wineries with female winemakers include Wynns, Bellwether, Penley and Brands (one of the winemakeers, anyway), but I can't find any likely $35 cabs that might match. It could be a non-Coonawarra winery that produces a Coonawarra cab, that's a lot harder to search for via Winecompanion!

Tell me about it! I checked all those and couldn't find a match. The best match is The Cigar, $35, cellaring details match, female winemaker, notes match on other sites that have tasted it.

Parker also has a female maker, but then the only one they make for $35 is the Terra Rosa that cellars for a very long time.

Could be Bowen, Emma Bowen winemaker, price was $35 when reviewed, they do both cork and screwcap some vintages.

There is a Jim Barry Wines Single Vineyard Kirribilli Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Leconfield Cabernet that fit the specs except for female winemaker

Quite partial to a Bowen RB although it's been a few months since I last tried one 🙂
I'm not confident about Bowen, but VM did score Redman recently, strange times.
It's been a few years since I tried a Bowen, either Shiraz or Cabernet, or pretty much anything from Coonawarra really.

But I was tempted by the Highbank 50% off offer, they make some of the best Coonawarra Cabernet/Merlot/blends from properly treated vineyards. And then seal it with a cork. :(

Wouldn't mind it being a Bowen, but Halliday lists cellaring to 2031 so that part doesn't match up.

Yeah, said I wasn't confident.
Why doesn't someone who is actually interested in this call VM and run the options by them? They usually give out the real producer if you get close.

(I'm not interested.)

Ordered! Thanks for the tip-off, vmile, and for the discount code, redbigot. What is it?? 😁
(I'm a big enough fan of Vic chard that I figured for ~$15 a bottle, well worth a punt, but also curious and never been too patient.)
Shadowfax.
And very nice it is.
