I like Penny's Hill, too bad I missed out.

Today I got a 24hr expiry $25 voucher. Tossing up between 6 of the 2011 Punch Lance 2011 pinot, right at the end of it's drinking window:
Black Market Pinot Noir 2011 - Red Wine | Vinomofo Australia
or for half the price there is the 2014 Rockbare Coonawarra Cutie:
Black Market Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 - Red Wine | Vinomofo Australia
Does anyone have opinions on either, seems they are both atypical for the varieties.
I decided I had enough Pinot so got the Cutie. It turned up this morning (before the heat thankfully) and the first bottle is lovely

regards to all and sundry. still alive. havent been here for a while but knocking off the Fo purchases. After going gangbusters years ago, i think i have bought 4 cases in two and a half years. cheers to all for the time. Will get back here if it is easy to do so electronically. i found it such a chore in the past year(s).

Good grief!!!! Glad to see you live and kicking still Beefy - so good to see you again

Your 4 cases is 4 cases more than I have bought in that period - just never bother to even look at VM nowadays

coincidentally i have only tried one rockbare in my life a few weeks back. purpose of night was someone gave me 2 wines, same shiraz, same year, same area, one 2014 taltarni shiraz, second mount avoca estate shiraz 2014 of course. my friend wanted me to'compare the pair. so 4 of us enjoyed together with a rockbare shiraz which year excapes. the rock was nice, full, dark berried, a tad thinner than the other two. quite austere, not as sweet as other two.I am glad you bought the Cutie. But i was stunned by the avoca, delicious fruit and mild oak tretment. Just one of those stunning ones that we all simply go ga ga at thesecond mouth full.

must keep reading more above. Been a long long time.

wow..a reply already. Thanks for the warm words. Wine lovers are a funny breed. we just dont knock em back withought hoping one will taste ten times what it worth. well maybe not ten . I have been tempted four times, two white, one comes to mind, mornington sun chadonnay 2012.$10 a bot. Was $25. i reckon $20 is fair but the wine is a bit more than a quaffer but a lovely starter for me. at a tenner for a better than av wine, its great. I tend to punish myself with my own tastings sometimes where i assess 3-4. In fact had at home recently, everyone was out except Beau and Winx, two cats and we had a full on music dvd night. my collection is eclectic and covers just about everything.prefernce for rock n roll. so had the latest oils dvd out, the one in sydnets domain, and it rocks. so did the wines. but i did a test i did a while ago with four glases, a crystal red ro aldi, a german crystal i have loved for decades, thick glass and a great feel, the Plumm one and the infamaous riedel shiraz tasteing glass that i got 3 for free buying penfolds stuff a decade ago fro woolworths bws. they were one step from the bin, or ebay before i did to hem what i did a few weeks ago again. same wine, four glasses. there is no doubt the est flavoured wine comes out of riedel. did the same thing a year ago i reckon. three wines , same result. It siftens and adds body. And no i am not ingesting any of my own stock before i assess clinically.
enough banter about that, US winees love the subtle differetiation of wine, the terrior each has.

I've still got 3 of the 2014 Avoca Back Blocks Cabernet waiting patiently to be consumed. Might need to do a back to back with the Cutie.

Firstly @beefarmer bloody marvellous to see you back on our collective screens! We've missed the cut and thrust of your witty repartee not to mention your pithy comments on various vinous offerings, salut! Anyway I think I might have cracked this latest BM shiraz/viognier Black Market Shiraz 2015 - Red Wine | Vinomofo Australia it would appear to be the 2015 Turners Crossing Bendigo Shiraz Viognier, I think the previous vintage from VM was discussed last year (I bought some and wasn't bowled over at the time)....

Nice to see you back @beefarmer.
I hope you and @Wozza rekindle :p
Really miss those posts.
@beefarmer - just a week ago @Wozza @Delectable Blue got together and while drinking wine we were wondering how you were while reminiscing of the SYD wine tasting evenings followed by late night tastings in Wozza’s office - good memories - glad to see you here again

Welcome back, @beefarmer. We have missed you buddy.

Sadly, I doubt I'll be posting in this thread or much elsewhere at the moment. I'm taking a break from wine posting as a recalibration of the use of my time. I'm loving the extra time and am putting it to good use. Thank God. Also, I am not buying wine at the moment. Needs must with a season of tough grace.

I'll be back. Maybe. We'll see what God has in store for me ...

Until then, hopefully I'll catch some of you on the phone, email, WhatsApp or, even better, in person.

Blessings dear Wine Lovers, Wozza.

Today's BM Cab Sav from Margaret River Black Market Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 - Red Wine | Vinomofo Australia would appear to be the 2010 Umamu Estate Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon for those interested (I find it hard to pass up this varietal when the Margaret River is involved) haven't sampled any Umamu though....

Well spotted there. I've recently bought their 2008 cab merlot (Cracka, an absolute bargain at today's $12.99!) and the 2009 shiraz (VM, also excellent value at $15) - both lovely wines and at their peak now. I'm a big fan of Umamu all of a sudden :)

Edit: with these all hitting the discount market recently, there may be others around in the near future - worth looking out for some of the others that have great reviews.

Had a crack at guessing what this baby is: Black Market Shiraz 2016 - Red Wine | Vinomofo Australia and could only come up with 2016 Trofeo Estate Shiraz, previous vintages fully aged in amphora but this one matches VM's description of the 2015 "They practice biodynamics in the vineyard and even ferment in amphorae, the way it’s been done for millennia in Europe. Their 2015 shiraz saw a mix of terracotta amphora and French oak barriques, aged in the amphorae for about 12 months prior to bottling", opinion on earlier vintages is considerably divided on Vivino... Can't say I'm wildly enthusiastic!

The Parker is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 78.5% | Petit Verdot 21.5%
The Petaluma A blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot and 8% Shiraz
