Vinomofo Wine Deals

My experience is 1-2 weeks between organising the return with VM and Nexday actually coming to collect.

ETA: this is in SYD

I must admit I am sorely tempted by the VIM Dauvergne & Ranvier 'Face Sud' Côte-Retie 2012.

https://vinomofo.com/wines/red-wine/dauvergne-ranvier-face-sud-rhone-valley-shiraz-blend-2012

It’s the battle of Minas Tirith. The pinnacle of world city sparkles as if made of crystals, black and red banners floating above the parapets. The bouquet is impressive, with enormous volume. A mountain of charcoal set with graphite, tapenade, blueberries and chocolate stands monumentally facing the nose. The attack is devastating. The ripe, assaulting tannins, armed with white pepper and salt, break the defences of the palace. They besiege lavender, acacia, roses and cedar enthroned in retro-olfaction. In the final, all the aforementioned fragrances are pushed to the bottom of the throat by exhalations of blackcurrant, blackberry and mint, both huge and elegant. An exceptional nectar, one of the best wines of the vintage, from all appellations.

We've just returned from a trip to New Caledonia where we had the opportunity to sample some truely lovely French wines. This has made me very interested in tasting a wider range of French wines. I imagine this offering should be the equal of any of those wines.

My only concern is that sentence about ""white pepper and salt". After my extreme sensitivity to the salinity in the Spinifex Bete Noir, I'm just ever so slightly gun-shy. I want to BOOM. I really do...

They really do have fabulous returns policy DB, the question is more is the $9 delivery fee worth chancing it? ;)

The recent Clare Valley 2015 Riesling turns out to be "Auburn Hills", by Mitchell. Will try it soon when the warmer days come. I like the idea that my $9 riesling comes handpicked from a 5 red star family-owned winery. But then the riesling's in the drinking.

I really like this wine at a great price point.

Clean, crisp riesling, good depth, great nose, I have ordered another doz.

Not sure how it will age, but at this price how can you go wrong.

Agh! Wish I could do click and collect on that one!

How quickly do Nexday/mof_ normally pick up the returns?

Well mini, that's a vexed question in this household. I've had cases sit around at my front door for several weeks awaiting pick-up, I ended up contacting VM and hassling them to get on with it but I think the problem lies with the freight company (in my case living in Tas it's Tasfreight). I'm currently looking at a box of Little Berries that has been hanging around for ages now and it's going to take another email or phone call to VM to move it on. Frustrating thing for me is that I tend to wait for the credit to be deposited to my account and make a new order from the daily offerings based on that little nest egg. No pick-up=no store credit=no repeat purchase!

How's this for VM service. I rang them today to tell them that the Red Hill Estate Mossolini Shiraz 2013 was not to my liking and I would like to have a chat to my broker to consider a suitable alternative. I didn't want a credit card refund but a refund on my VM account. She transferred me to my 'broker' and as I said yes to his recommendation, the refund had already been processed. Not bad.

The Mad Hatter 6 pack is on it's way. Sure the last refund took two weeks exactly to be picked up, but it really doesn't matter as it all sits in the same monthly credit card purchasing. Ssssshno bigdeal.

A funny thing really....wine number 2 was being sold as a sixty bucker back to a twenty bucker by someone else. I have had it this week it and think at $12.50 it's a very good deal. Tasting notes are spot on for a more mellowish style. Plenty of Barossan fruit to be had and it's not too thick nor sickly nor overbaked.

The $60 to $20 was Allegiance Wines The Artisan Barossa Shiraz. This number 2 is the McLaren Vale version and $40 is the websites rrp. Cheers
