Vinomofo Wine Deals

Well the star lane sangiovese 2012 arrived in a good looking 6 pack. Due to a bout of man flu i will have to wait to crack one open. Since sanga has quite variable ageing potential i suppose that 4 years old should be safe enough. Small batches and variety probably responsible for the lack of reviews online.

Mine is due to arrive this week. Looking forward to it

What did your wife think?

She - of course - apologised to the waiter for her husband's embarrassing Wine Snobbery! She cringes everytime I ask to sample a wine before buying. It's so not (the former) British thing to do!

Anyone know what this Margaret River 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon might be? A bit young for me now, something for the cellar

Looks like it may have also been up on Vinomofo a few weeks ago here, same description, I was about to order back then but sold out before I had a chance to purchase, from memory it was going a bit cheaper.

Classic case of Sydney BS. Won't allow BYO but you're forced to pay top dollar for nothing special. In this case (no wine list) you even have to grovel. I hate the attitude.

(I hope your wife had a lovely birthday regardless.)

So, I was at a posh restaurant on the North Shore in Sydney, celebrating my wife's birthday tonight.

Please can I see the wine list? I ask the attentive waiter.

The owner only serves his house specials, I'm afraid. I can offer you a Red or White.
He says.

Well, I'll take a Red then
.

Would you like a Portuguese GSM or a Spanish Rioja?

I'm not sure. May I try them both? I say.

[I sample them both, and he spots I think they are okay].

So he says: I think I've got the boss's good McLaren Vale Shirz. I'm not sure I can open it for a taste.

Don't worry. I say. I'll take the Shiraz, that'll be fine, I'm sure.

Guess what he brings out? I almost laughed out loud. (So much history. So much significance: the wine that stopped me (to date, almost 9 months later) buying from the Fo ...)

Yes, the boss's finest McLaren Vale Shiraz was none other than the Cantiniere!!! I couldn't believe it! I took the Rioja with no body, but nice fruit flavours instead.

I agree absolutely f#=#€$€ shocking. Or humorous. Better to laugh at them I suppose, except they'll be giving someone else the same treatment. I'm not sure how they get away with it.

Got the Star Lane Sangiovese 2012 6 pack today. Cracked one and not impressed. Very big and quite acidic. Thinking of sending it back. Anyone else had it?

Seen the black market 2015 Tumbarumba prosecco up a few times now, anyone tried it yet? Or knows what it is? It looks interesting but I notice this time around there isn't a timer on it which makes me hesitant.

We had it last night, my darling partner enjoyed it and so did I but with the proviso that I couldn't taste very much due to the sinus being still clogged. Probably not the best way to go about sampling, but if she likes it then I guess it's a winner. It was cork, so perhaps there's some bottle variation.

Welcome aboard Smudgefish, I have not tried it but with the return policy there is really nothing to loose.
You are most likely already aware but, if you buy you can try 2 of the 12 and if you don't like it return for a refund on the full purchase price.

If you "Boom", (it is a good time now with free freight) let us know what you think of it

Cheers!

after a bit of research it seems to be a prosecco from coppabella, who's website is down and has no presence on social media. Tempted to get, but I might wait a few more hours in case someone has tried it (was in the mixed sparkling case recently).

Looks like a pescatarian relative of yours had this to say regarding Coppabella in general:

I have tried some of Moppity's wines - BTW, the Coppabella PN is part of this stable. I have found them to be overpriced (Yes, even at VM's prices!) for what they are. At these prices, you can do a lot better.

Re Star Lane Sangiovese: Yes, I too was underwhelmed. Already past its (presumed) peak. On the positive side the 3 associates grenache is very nice & all 3 mandala pinots 2010 prophet & 2010 & 2012 Matriarch are excellent. Willing to wear the sangiovese ... for now

hmmm...I am setting myself up for a bit of a disappointment, a general term for a free bottle.

Any good choices available with the current Fo free shipping? The Shiraz/Cab blend 12 caught my eye. Been a few months since I bought from the Fo and I'm a little out of the loop.
