Vinomofo Wine Deals

Interesting they are using Ben Malouf scores for Moppity and Chalice Ridge and a few others, he is a wine merchant as well as a commentator/reviewer and sells some of the Chalice Bridge and Moppity wines.

I did notice this upon googling Ben's name the other day. I'll be doing my due diligence upon researching wines he's rating/spruiking.

From the cooler southern part of Margaret River, could be another Chalice Bridge, they offers a Reserve Cabernet from there to VIM list yesterday.

Hmm, a little bit of COI perhaps Red ?

Does anyone have any experience making bulk orders with VM? Also does anyone have any recommendations for reds/whites around the $12-18 mark? Thanks!

Agreed. Everyone i know that has tried the 2012 Thousand Candles'hates' it! Pass.

I reported earler that I quite like the 2012 candles but agree that it would not be to everyone's (anyone else's?) taste. Good to share in a group as a 'talking point' at least!

I don't think it will show improvement with bottle age, so drink up ... The 2013 being more shiraz dominant still has some ways to go but I prefer the more delicate 2012.

As I said before, the fact I didn't buy more at the lower price suggests I don't consider it to be good value. Hmm damning with faint praise? Nah, glad I got them.

I have tried some of Moppity's wines - BTW, the Coppabella PN is part of this stable. I have found them to be overpriced (Yes, even at VM's prices!) for what they are. At these prices, you can do a lot better.

Yup, agree with all - 1000 Candles are not what it is cracked up to be. I bought a 6-pack a while ago. They must have been joking when they thought of selling it for $100 per bottle. At $35 per bottle it is still too pricey. Perhaps at $10 per bottle I might be interested again.

Does anyone have insight into the recent Black Market McLaren Vale Shiraz 2015 - $29 down to $8.90?

I do love me some McLaren Vale Shiraz!...

You think the quality of the wine-making was so poor that it only warrants a $10/bottle price tag? Or it's not to your liking, hence you wouldn't pay more?

Personally, I think the grapes and technique were fine - way above a 10-bucker quaffer. I'm just not sure I'm ready for a pinot/shiraz/sauv blanc blend.

What do mean by bulk? And from my experience the 12 to 18 dollars from VM are always good quality in the reds, depending on your taste against the tasting notes, finding the absolute gems in that price range is a little bit of individual questioning/research on this site, and luck of the draw☺
I haven't had a bad red yet, just one that personally didn't agree with me histamine wise.Average red in that price range in my experience has been way superior to the average dross brokers out there.

P.s. even their (VM) 8 to 9 dollar range is superior to the other mainsteam brokers 20 to 30 dollar range...so far for me anyways..

Seconded MB. Thank goodness for Vinmofo. Only send back for me was years ago and that was on a 2nd party's insistance because of personal dislike!
Of course VM have replaced those dreadful cold calls from other organization's salespersons trying to flog a dead horse at arab stallion prices! (have I gone too far again?).
MB I was just beeing silly about the broken bottles as VF have put together this Salvation case from send backs of wine delivery accidents.

The 2009 Te Awa Hawkes Bay Cabernet Merlot has caught my eye. I haven't tried any Cabernets from New Zealand. Anyone care to share their opinions and experience with Cabernets from this region? Pity it's not sold as a sixer.
