Having just tallied my VM purchases in 2015 I think I can see a fairly clear break between 6-packs and 12-packs and it's around $19/bottle (with some outliers). I guess VM have worked out that's where they can make money.

Plenty of 6-pack options if you pay $20+/bottle, which is about the minimum you need to pay to get anything remotely decent at DM etc.

Yep I'd buy a lot more from VM if more 6 pack offers than at present

Good advice, AC. That's exactly what I do now. I use http://myCellars.com.au to test whether I will like a wine or not. Even in the 95+ camp or the Langtons Classified camp I tend to buy in, there have been some wines that were not to my tastes or were not knocking my socks off, but glad I got to try them. (The lofty 98 point Seppelt Drumborg Riesling 15 being a recent example). I tend to make a 3 to 6 pack investment if they are a real hit with me.

I am preferring this now to taking a gamble on Fo purchases. I have returned the last three orders and have lost a little confidence in what they are peddling (it's great marketing spiel). I do feel embarrassed to make so many returns, so I have decided to only buy from the Fo if I am fairly sure it's going to be a hit with me. I don't want to waste all those resources and time for them and for me. And I don't want to be lumbered with a lot of wine that's really good but not amazing.

I liked the 'noise' reference above. It's hard to pick the winners amongst the average fare on the Fo. And there is a lot of good, but average fare. But luckily for all of us, we have some very knowledgeable and experienced wine consumers who are happy to shout loudly on this Forum when the good ones do pop up. We are very lucky.

So my only additional advice to the above - carefully watch the various Wine Lover threads. Spot the good ones, and double check with a bit of Googling it's a wine you will enjoy (not all will be). And jump quickly when the wine buying stars align. The good, well priced wines go very quickly.

My buying is heavily influenced by the pack size.
Happy to buy 12 of something I know , but the typical vm roulette game is less risky when you are only gambling with 6….

Good advice. Personally I'm sticking to things that have proper reviews - have even bought a few of the non-secret deals that have seemed to be decently priced. Luckily there haven't been too many bombs (the Haselgrove Batch 187 was one) and likewise I only send it back if it's off (Parous 2012 was an exception). I find I have enough family gatherings / bday things etc to go to that I can usually offload the stuff I don't like, but which isn't particularly bad wine, reasonably quickly. If I'm going to be taking wine there anyway, it might as well be cheap stuff from VM :)

Can't help you I'm afraid. I wont see it again until 2020 at least.

But if it helps, other Haselgrove wines I've tasted sold by VM with similar discount have been very good.

I’m still enjoying my Great VinoMofo Experiment, as I call it. I was a late-comer to the party, only discovering the Fo in the latter half of 2015, so I missed many of the great offers many here are lamenting.

However I had found it quite helpful in helping to re-build something resembling a wine collection. I have also greatly enjoyed exploring some of the mixed cases, getting to sample wines I might otherwise never have heard of. No, they are not all great wines, but most of them are interesting and drinkable, and a few gems have been discovered. I will continue to buy the occasional mixed case for this purpose.

Now that I have filled all of my available wine storage space I will be forced to slow down and become more selective with my purchases. I now find myself looking more for pre-aged wines, so I’ve got something interesting to drink and enjoy while waiting for the rest of the collection to start maturing. As such I am now spending more time browsing Gray’s. I am intrigued by Langton’s, but I still haven't got my head around their site yet. I quite frequently find interesting wines listed, but usually only single bottles. I prefer buying at least three of anything I’m really interested in, and I haven’t found a way to filter the listing by bottle quantity.

Their website is a PITA to use. For the auctions, you can get the PDFs of listings, as they have the bottle counts listed. Alternatively I'd see if your broker can help.
Otherwise, I guess you can browse the "Buy Now" section of the site, and stick to things they're selling rather than auctioning.

I'm pretty sure there was no 2014 Coonawarra Cabernet that scored 96 at the Sydney Royal Wine Show last year, I've got a query in with VM to check and confirm.

Fairly sure I know what it is though, there is a clue in the blurb.
